Drew some concept scribbles for a player race in this tabletop rpg campaign thing I'm planning out. :P For now these pretties will be called pixies. Until I come up with a better name.
They’re really androgynous folk with the eagerness to please and make people happy in their nature. They can go to ridiculous lengths to make a person happy, even as much as trapping them inside an illusion. Some say they make people happy because they feed off of positive energy but no one knows for sure.
There are a few different kinds of pixies that can be found, the most common of them being the brown “autumn” variety. They come in all sorts of different shades of browns and tend to make their homes in swamp areas. The second most common variation is the green one, the “summer” form. They come in all sorts of shades of green and tend to live in big forests, especially rain forests. The two rarest forms are the snow form and orchid form, the orchid form having their shells in different shades of pink and the snow, as the name hints, in white or even icy blue. Orchids are originally from the rain forests while snows come from up North.
While the outer shells of these creatures are tough, the very thin, gray layer or skin can barely protect their innards (which you can see through the transparent skin). The shells very often vary in size, placement and shape depending on the individual. Some pixies might have their stomach revealed (like in the picture), some might have shells covering them. Pixies don’t have teeth as they tend to swallow their food whole. If the food’s too big, they use the sharp edges of their arms to cut it into smaller pieces. The only real difference between a male and a female pixie is the size of their ovipositor. The bigger it is, the most likely that pixie is to be a female one.
