Here's a glimpse of one of the islands the Vossen inhabit.
This is probably around early morning or evening, after/before a particularly clear day since harbor is visible with the fog only just rolling in. Usually the water between the islands isn't always visible due to the heavy mist so often times the islands look as if they are high up in the mountains. This also makes sailing a ship rather difficult in these waters with it's shallow reefs and sandbanks surrounding the archipellago, but the Vossen know these waters by heart and could navigate them blindfolded. (true story, but that's for another time. :p )
Some of the smaller islands are connected by bridges, spanning between rock formations between them, which allow for easier travel and moving goods between them though to get to some of the other islands one would have to navigate the reef or use the cable cart that spans between some of the islands that are close enough togethe but have no suitable rock formations between them to build proper bridges.
As you can see there appear to be very few buildings on the island, this is mainly because resources are rather scarce and the Vossen take care not to over harvest the environment so trees are rarely cut down unless necessary and most of the wood used in construction is actually salvage from the many shipwrecks on the outer reef where all exploration expeditions have met their end and thus keeping the Vossen homeland undiscovered untill this day. Most of the Vossen live in homes carved out of the mountains and cliff faces, and usually only the clan leaders have a proper house builf for themselves. The other pagoda structures you see tend to be markets (kind of like a mall), government buildings or temples, though in a few rare cases they are also used for housing with typically two to four homes per floor for smaller pagodas and four to eight for larger ones like an apartment building.
Other structures besides that tend to be temples and dojos, aside from that on the central island they have an imperial palace, built in the earlier settling days. Since it used so much resources it is the only large scale structure ever built of it's kind, and while the Vossen technically don't have an emperor anymore it is still in use as the seat of the council of elders. The council is formed by the elders of the different clans spread across the islands which are concidered as provinces and while each one has a representative for the council the elder council itself is formed by 7 elders of the biggest clans which govern their set of provinces. The seven elders are called the Daimyo while the representatives for the provinces are called the Fudai (or Fudai Daimyo) together they form what is to be considered the government of Vossen civilization.
The Vossen don't have a formal army since essentially everyone is a warrior already, trained from a young age and ready to defend their land should it ever be needed. Perhaps the closest thing that comes to an official army would the the elites, individuals with exceptional combat skills and endurance who also posses at least one elemental power which they blend into their martial arts (Pretty much like bending works in Avatar, though I thought up these things years before that show even aired so it's just coincidence it happens to be similar.)
Since the vossen don't seem to be able to use magic (elemental powers have a different source) they also don't have access to healing magic, so they made signifficant medical advances and even have surgeons and medical and anatomical knowledge close to what we have today, rivalled only by the Romuins. This anatomical knowledge has helped develop their martial arts as well as it is used by the elites especially in the form of pressure point techniques and targeting the body's weak points.
While they have medical skills to treat injuries, the islands also contain a lot of poisonous plants and animals to which the Vossen have adapted, as such they have a very high tolerance for poisons and very few poisons can actually kill a Vossen nowadays, though they can still make them very sick for a long time, there are actually only a few poisons that can kill a Vossen unless treated quickly.
