While on vacation in North Carolina, I visited Hanging Rock State Park. This is the view from the top of the Hanging Rock trail. The various trails were rated Easy, Moderate, Hard, and Strenuous. I thought I could surely manage a Moderate trail, but was about ready to die by the time I reached the top. This old bear ain’t what he used to be. The view from the top was tremendous, and I have to admit it was worth the effort. On the way back down, I gratefully took a rest stop where a park employee was giving a short presentation on Black Bears in the state.
