In 1910 a man named Billy Carver came to the rocky mountains and built this small cabin on the shore of Johnson Lake. Here he lived in near isolation as a hermit for 26 years before being discovered by some local boys in a weakened state. He was brought to town, fixed up, and then later passed away in an old folks home.
The cabin is not well known to anyone outside of the community and is somewhat difficult to find off path unless you know what to look for, but is a fantastic example of one of the few ‘undiscovered gems’ still left in the park.
