Ewig Nacht
The moon is a dark blue eye which watches the eternal night. In the middle of a dessert stand a bar. The bar is just a wall, and some shelves before a mirror with a table and some chairs for the non-existent patrons. Just beside the bar stands a single lonely lamppost casting its golden light on the pointless commercial establishment. Behind the bar is a faithful bartender, he wears a purple suit to match the night which employs him, it’s draped over his shirt and black suspenders. He polishes a glass for no one in particular and sets the bar for no reason at all. He has no face, instead a childlike scribble done in red lipstick stands immovably where a face should be, and in the center a pair of voluptuous red lips sit smiling at the everlasting nothing beyond the countertop, and atop this mess he wears a top hat with a ribbon about the base that’s slightly askew.
At some point in the night two patrons arrive, though it’s not really clear when they arrive or from whence they came. One wears a snow white suit, this one has a knight for a head, and the other is a rabbit in a policeman’s uniform. They sit at the bar unclear of why they have come, they discuss a something that neither fully understands but both seem comfortable talking about here and to each other. They order two glasses of meaning, one each. They do not drink from the glasses they are given, for the man behind the bar is Ewig Nacht, and such a man is never to be trusted.
A cold wind sails across the dessert where a bar stands in a single pool of golden light, the wind chills the man and the rabbit but not the bartender. Eventually the sun will come up, but not here, somewhere else where the rabbit is waking up, but not here. Here the bartender will continue to tend his bar, and the other fellow… well that is unclear.
