I really should do some more film work, I forgot how much I enjoy it.

Ya know? We should be so grateful that there are so many of these stone-masonry structures around us herein maryland. These were built by the irish/scot/german ancestors we have. Most were built before 1850. You will not find too many structures like this west of- say- Ohio. Their intrinsic beauty is given back to us daily... for 150+ years, either by your renderance here, or simply by the convinience of the crossings they offer - their original intent.
Ya know, I can spend a bit of time just looking this kind of picture over. The textures, contrasts and shadows they are pleasing to my eyes.
Really nice photo. I have to wonder if another photographer has tried a similar shot some many decades before, and how the two shots may have compared?

Thanks! You got me interested and I did a google image search. Not much from 'decades ago' of course but a few from more or less the same vantage.
I'd love to get a good shot of the Catoctin Aqueduct sometime. That's a tough one. The best angle is in the middle of the creek!

There's a small point of land just downstream from the aqueduct that may provide a good angle. On other point might be from the CSX viaduct just upstream, but for safety reasons, I'd not suggest that. (its trespassing, too) Monocacy Aqueduct is quite attractive, too. Actually the stonework on a lot of the C&O canal is awesome!
It's kinda neat, that the Skwirl and I were just out for a ride yesterday, we were detoured off of MD 77 and wound up crossing this bridge - we stood on this very spot for a few minutes, just taking in the view.

It's a pretty spot. The entire hill on that side used to be filled with wildflower and large patches of white violets. People started using it as a dump in the late '70s until in the 90's someone dumped dozens of animal carcasses down the hill. The county started a major cleanup but a couple of decades of trash left its toll.
You can still find bones and teeth up and down the hill if you look.
It's supposed to be haunted. The Son of the Legore who built the bridged committed suicide by jumping off the middle span.
