I found cheap fur :3
I was originally making this head blank http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1998337 with a toony wolf in mind, hence the unfoxy head shape. But the fabric store I go to didn't have very nice black fur (the orange is pretty good, the white is OMFGAWESOME), so I wasn't about to make a Wolfbird head. All-orange would have been too "is this supposed to be a fox..?" and the white fur is too short to make a whole so eh...
I think it turned out pretty super. The goatee is so win.
The fur here is just pinned on right now, so it's supposed to look all lumpy and have pins sticking out all over. He's also missing his eyes, which keep falling out since I haven't glued them in yet. Mouth still needs lips, I might add some teeth.
Gonna be a fullsuit later, assuming I can clear some floorspace (Koz's airsoft guns have taken over the kitchen table and I'm loathe to touch any of it, lest some parts go missing).

(Wow, no one's commented on this yet?)
ANYWAY, I wanted to say that these suits you're making are absolutely awesome. I especially like this guy's goatee. I think suits with goatees are few and far between. A little facial hair didn't hurt nobody!
Oh yeah, and I wanted to ask you, whenever you get back to me, would you mind telling me about how much a partial costs with the materials you use? I'd love to make my own, just to say 'hey, I made a fursuit.'
Anyway. Whenever you can get back to me, I'd love to hear your advice!

Well... that's a tricky question. A lot of it depends on the sort of materials you use. I am also (generally) a master of thrift, so take this price list with a grain of salt.
Actual cost of this head so far (assuming you have absolutely NO supplies on hand)
$30 (1 meter of fur of the three colors I used, with PLENTY left over)
$10 (two bits of longer white from Walmart, to hide my boobs and define the cheeks... optional)
$2 (1 meter of that black mesh stuff for the eyes, PLENTY left over)
$1 (felt for the tongue, mouth and inner ear)
$2 (Lycra for head-- I get it by the yard at this price, you can alternatively buy one from a motorcycle store for about $5)
$2 (one foam cushion block from Walmart)
$1 (zipper for the back of the head... somewhat optional)
$1 (bag of hot glue sticks)
$2 (cheapass glue gun)
$1 (bag of sewing needles)
$3 (GUTERMANN thread. Don't use the cheap stuff, trust me)
$1 (duct tape, you can use the cheap stuff here)
----
$56
Really though, to cut down costs I recommend the following items:
-Slash someone else's screen windows for the eye screens (or keep your eyes open on garbage day)
-Borrow a hot glue gun, sewing kit, thread, etc.
-Cut up a stretchy t-shirt and make your own balaclava (there are patterns online)
-Use as few colors of fur as possible (if you're making the guy in your current icon, I'd suggest getting 1 meter of medium-pile white fur and just using black felt for the ears since fur is short there anyway and no one will really notice. For shaving down the fur from the nuzzle and suchlike, I'd go see a dog groomer and ask them to trim it down if you don't own a clipper of your own. They might think it's so funny/easy they won't charge... who knows? One assumes a dog groomer knows how to trim a dog's face, by the way).
-Use another material than fur. Fur often looks better, depending on what kind of animal you're making, but TBH... cutting fur is a bitch, and so is lying our the patterns so the fur nap all lies in the right direction. I recommend polar fleece in the place of fur when you can get away with it... it's easier to sew by leaps and bounds, comes in more colors and is cheaper.
Sorry for the wall of text, but hope it helps!

Hmm....I might have to ask my dad to help me with this. He sews so he'll know where to get some of the stuff you mentioned. Thanks for humoring me though, I really appreciate it!
Also, I know of a thrift store nearby, they have so much crap...they're bound to have some of the items.
Yeah, I'll be doing the character in my icon. (Lol! HE? XD Sorry, had to giggle at that.) Oh yeah, and do you have any suggestions on how to do the bangs? Koof looks freakish without her bangs. Maybe I could just say she suffered from cancer and had to go through chemo?
ANYWAY, thanks again, I'm going to store this stuff on my computer to look back on it when I have enough money saved up. I'll be sure to credit you when I get started and take pictures!!

FORGIVE ME FROM NEVER LOOKING UNDER YOUR SKIRT TO CHECK OMG (sarcasm, lol <3)
As for the hair... I don't work with wigs yet so I can't offer much support there. I avoid them because they often look like ass on an oversized suit head, and they don't look like they'd be fun to maintain (tangles, balding due to brushing, etc). I've seen a lot of people use stuffed dreadlock thingers made from fur, and they can turn out pretty OK. Or, if it's shorter headfur I suppose you could just use a few scraps of it to make your own wig-thing (although, I'd be careful with that... 90% of the people who do this themselves seem to make their suit heads have terrible, unconvincing haircuts). Failing that... yarn? If your dad sews he must be familiar with hook weaving (I think that's what it's called). Ask him about it.
