Hawke is well set up for being a nighttime security guard. He's agile, fit, and has no problem staying awake for the whole shift. Of course, nothing ever happens at night anyway, so he passes the time by playing MarioKart and Pokemon on his 3DS. He's got just the right set of appendages for it - so long as you don't have to use a stylus or anything :P
This job is only a temporary thing while he's out of normal work for the summer. It pays the bills, so it works!
