The Lunok:
The Lunok are an ancient people who were said to have walked the earth long before the human race was born. Traditionally, they are very naturalistic and have an intimate relationship with the basic elements, allowing them to manipulate the powerful magics of the world. They worshipped the sun and the moon as their guardians. When the sun disappears, hidden runes all along the surface of a Lunok’s body begin to glow; this is the only time when these markings are visible. The abilities of a Lunok are most potent when they are in this luminescent state. For thousands of years, humans and the Lunok have coexisted and thrived. Over time, however, the Lunok bloodlines began to thin as Lunok began to breed with humans. Today, very few people who bear the characteristic Lunok tail and ears remain in existence. These families have tried to keep to their race’s ancient traditions; but, this is not always possible in the modern world. The ability to commune with nature has fallen dormant for the past couple of centuries. Nowadays, the Lunok are just like humans; that is, with the exception of the tail and ears.
Cora Cerralia:
The Cerralia family has among the strongest Lunok blood in the world today. The entire family (with the exception of the few humans who have married into the Cerralias) still has their Lunok attributes; even the ancient Lunok language has been passed down through the generations. Cora Solph’I (meaning “Child of the Sun”) is the second of three children, and the only girl at that. She is very energetic and friendly. Her bright personality betrays her odd appearance. At first, when she left the comfort of her hometown to go to college at Sael University, people tended to avoid her (None have ever seen a Lunok of her level of blood-purity before); but after a year, she became well loved among her peers. She loves history (especially history concerning her own race) and photography. She feels drawn to some ancient ruins on a small island off the coast of Sael. Every time she visits, something strange always happens; she hopes to uncover the mystery of these ruins and hopefully capture some of them on film.
Nima:
Nima is a small furry creature that has been Cora’s companion since birth. This creature (called an El’Mah) was born of its mother on the same day as Cora, as if it was meant to be with her. Every member of the Cerralia family has their own El’Mah; however, over the centuries, the purpose of the El’Mah has been forgotten. They are now kept just as pets by Lunok families.
