Ehl are animals who were elevated by a cosmic power they name as Dwevilel into the sentient beings they are now. Long since left to their own devices they have spread across their world of Esraly, forming the core of most of it's diverse societies. They come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes are per their original species.

Darkner are a mysterious and eerie subrace of the Ehl, grey and featureless. They live in scattered but organized outposts in the dark places of the world, scratching a living among the other alien inhabitants. Although not technically evil, they are militant and territorial and have no love for their Ehl counterparts. Among the other races they are stories told to scare children, walking shadows that lunge from the dark and bring death to those who intrude on their interests.
