This is Xenith, a rival of Root.
Like Root he's a thief and adventurer, except that he was never exiled like her. They seem to cross paths often and have a love/hate relationship because of it. A rare few times they've actually worked together during their adventures and make quite a good team, but when it comes to heists they are often competing. While Root only steals in order to gain finders fee or favors or just to survive, Xenith does it purely for the thrill and profit though not for himself as he like Root comes from a well off family money is not an issue to him.

Root does have some feelings towards him but she tends to keep it hidden (most of the time), Xenith on the other hand does keep his feelings and motives better hidden so it's unsure if he does care for her in some way or is just using her to his advantage most of the time. What is sure though is that he's a ladies man, and has left many a tavern wench or noblewoman with a broken heart.
