Muddy Reference Sheet 2016
Full Name:
Muddy Rose
Additional Artistic Notes:
- In feral form, her build is more resembling of a beagle's, and the ears are more like a basset's. If you want to draw her with more basset features though, feel free! I usually draw her build more beagle-like since it resembles my body a bit better.
- The speckles on her fur don't have to be exactly as they are in the ref. They're assorted~
- The ears are big, thick and very floppy! You can go as crazy with them as you'd like. They can be used for a lot of practical things like scarves or blankets. She might also tie her ears up when eating or exercising so they don't get in the way.
- Anthro Muddy isn't just limited to the outfits in the ref; it's just a general guide on some of the things I wear. She'll probably most often be wearing jeans with either a hoodie or flannel of any colour. She mostly only wears hats with her flannel shirts, which is usually a similar style to the one in the ref. If she's wearing a hoodie, she can also be depicted wearing the hood, depending on her mood.
- Collar is not necessary, but I typically like drawing it. :)
Personality:
Muddy can be very shy and awkward, especially when you first start getting to know her. Depending on the person (animal?) though, she can open up surprisingly quickly if she feels invited to do so. She can be charismatic and energetic around familiar faces but contrastingly private and withdrawn among those she doesn’t know as well. Despite the former, though, Muddy is introverted and thrives on the time she gets to be alone with her thoughts; it gives her the energy she needs to go out and socialize with friends later.
Growing up, Muddy was very insecure about her long and sensitive ears. Among her siblings, she was the only one to inherit the longer basset ears from her father. Upon growing older, though, she has become more comfortable with them, and actually quite enjoys having them fondled or messed with. Muddy is highly sensitive to both sound and touch, but not always necessarily in a negative way. She can be a bit hesitant when it comes to being touched by strangers, as touch is typically displayed from her as an act of trust and affection – and as such, usually reserved for those she considers friends or good acquaintances. Although she is a hound, her tracking skills are hilariously awful. She has the tendency to become easily distracted by scents and sounds and will often get herself lost.
Muddy loves nature, exploring and travelling, but she is also very comfortable having a relaxing day at home. She can be both adventurous and lazy, sometimes simultaneously. She contemplates and philosophizes a lot about just about everything, and has a deep respect and fascination for the world she lives in. Although she doesn’t have any one passion in particular, she loves to learn and is almost always open to new experiences. Her social anxiety around new faces can hold her back from time to time, so sometimes all she needs is a little push. Muddy is not all serious though; in fact, she’s a bit of a goofball and enjoys making others laugh, even at her own expense. She uses comedy as an outlet for her weaknesses and insecurities because it makes her feel better about them – so don’t be surprised if she pokes fun at herself from time to time!
In general, this hound gets along with just about anyone as long as there is a mutual respect between them. She values honesty and trust in her relationships over just about anything else and she is pretty quick to forgive. She doesn’t mind giving a helping paw – or a helping ear – wherever and whenever needed! Her self-doubt, shyness, and social anxieties are the real things that hold her back, but she tries her best to be a good friend, even if it doesn’t always pan out.
