Dae cracked open her Sculpey that'd been laying in the kitchen for awhile. After seeing the spiffy little mini Dae she sculpted, I figured I should bite the bullet and try doing a full blown 3D sculpture instead of my normal 2D with depth setup.
Given that this wasn't my sculpy, I got permission to use it first off. But after getting that, I decided to try and get as much detail in as little a package as I could.
This resulted in making the base first, baking it, and then painting it.
Making the legs, baking, painting... Feet, Torso, arms, skull, head, and then hair.
I'm also serious when I say he has a skull in there. I wasn't sure how I wanted his head to look so I built a tiny spine and skull, positioned them how I wanted, baked them and then applied "skin" on top of the skull.
All told, this took seven hours of work start to finish. The majority of which was spent baking and painting. Given the size of him though, I'm -very- pleased with the results.
Oh, and Kudos to
Dae again for letting me use her camera for the shots. The Canon I have is brilliant for distance/landscape photography, but hers wins hands down for these close up shots.
