They look like young adults maybe a little younger.
The females should not be laying before they are 2. And lay as few times as possible. It is rather common for them to have issues with eggs being stuck inside them. It's a hefty vet bill to get them out.
You can avoid her laying all together if you keep them apart in the spring. Your male may also get very aggressive with her. Sexual tension was a huge deal with my male when he was younger. He would court her but not know what to do once he got on top of her. So it would always end in a fight.
I have done way too much reading on all this since I do want to breed them someday when they are ready >. <

I got them a 75gallon so that I CAN separate them evenly with some wood in the middle or something during times I don't want breeding or excessive breeding.
The incubation part is what worries me most. Especially because I don't know if I want to take them to the local pet shop (it's an organic shop where they'd incubate them) (But they take all profit in the clutch) or get an incubator and just sell them myself. I'm not necessarily interested in profit, but I feel weird... of someone ELSE making profit off of my babies babies?

Nah it is kinda funny but sad to watch him try. You can see him get mad and then she would get mad because she wants him to do it.
The courting looks almost like fighting. You should Google some videos on the mating so you get a feel for what it looks like. I was mistaken the first time he tried I thought it was just a fight so I broke them up.
Also fun fact they have 2 peens. And also if you mate them let them out in an open space and be ready to clean up what he uhh misses. Yup they are gross.
It's best if they can see each other at all. So I would get a divider and cover it in black paper. Or just a dark divide .
It's easy to do it yourself. Finding them good homes is the hard part. A lot of people get them because they are cool then treat them poorly. But you keep them till they are old enough to have a good chance at life. You can also sell them to the pets hop if you just can't find homes. Our local one took them as trade so you could get supplies for your babes in return.
