Welcome to Frappuchinos! Now Serving: Science!
Venti placed his overnight bag in a corner of Damon's bedroom. It always felt...odd, being there. The ceilings were too low, the couch looked like it'd break if he sat on it, but the bed? Well, it was the only exception. It was huge enough for him to stretch out and not have his feet dangle off the edge.
"I got that the week we started dating," Damon said, enjoying the sight of Venti's toothy grin.
"I always wondered about that, but I never wanted to ask. Didn't want to seem egotistical." He leaned back on his hands, noticing a magazine on the nightstand. "New Science?" He examined the cover of a fox, but half of its face was holographic. "'You are a Hologram'?" He looked at Damon, his expression skeptical. "This is a humor mag, right?"
"Nope."
"They claim we're holograms?"
"Well, it's more complicated than that," Damon sat next to Venti, poking the magazine. "In Hanover, they're doing an experiment to look for gravitational waves - ripples in space-time thrown off by super-dense astronomical objects like black holes."
"You lost me at Hanover."
"You're funny. Anyway, the experiment picked up some weird noise they couldn't figure out until someone suggested the noise is from the limit of space-time. Which means we're living in a giant cosmic hologram."
Venti looked at the magazine, not saying anything as he was lost in the study of the cover. Finally he looked back at Damon, holding up the magazine. "Mind if I read this?"
"Go right ahead," Damon said, grinning.
Venti turned to the article in question, Damon sitting next to him, waiting patiently as Venti read quietly to himself. About ten minutes later he reached the end of the article, and squinted at Damon. "You believe this?"
"I dunno, but it makes a lot of sense."
"You understand this?"
"Well, yeah."
Venti suddenly placed a hand to his temple. "Oh, God. The warning sirens are going off in my head!"
"Huh?"
"My boyfriend is a science geek!"
Damon grabbed a pillow, hitting Venti on the shoulder. "Oh yeah? My boyfriend's a luddite!"
"I'm tickling you now, and learning what a luddite is later."

You know, even my browser says that "luddite" isn't a word. Anyway, laughed to this. Science... interesting, yes? Well, I'm a student in a university of technology... so, I'm biased. In any case, I liked this a lot. Nice way to deepen Damon's character. Well done.
