Back-Story: Rei comes from a fairly wealthy family. When her parents discovered that she showed signs of a EFD carrier, they paid for her to have an experimental genetic procedure to try to eradicate all traces of EFD from her body. For years, it seemed to work; no transformations, no critical periods…nothing. After the first few years, Rei’s parents finally decided it was safe to buy a pet; Rei wanted a cat. She loves cats. At the age of sixteen, Rei entered her first critical period. One day, while she was playing with her cat, Rei sprouted a long, furry tail and her ears changed to resemble her pet’s. The only other fur that developed was on the sides of her face. The operation had interrupted the natural progression of EFD, leaving her as a half-beast; half-way between a normal person and a Furry. It’s not that she doesn’t like her feline parts; she just wishes that she could be either fully normal or fully furry. She blames her parents for her predicament.
Present Day Situation: Rei comes to Sael to hone her skills at journalism. She doesn’t feel like she fits in with her normal and Furry classmates. Her belief that she is different than everyone bolstered her desire for individuality. She does not try to make friends, as she would rather be alone. However, her roommate, Miami Coral (SAI: Rabbit), won’t give up on trying to get Rei to come out of her shell. She enjoys and appreciates Miami’s company, but sometimes becomes overwhelmed by the girl’s energy.
When Miami decided to move into Phi Upsilon Rho, an all Furry sorority, Rei was afraid that she’d lose her only real friend and decided to follow her. She was accepted into the house with open arms, though Rei still feels alienated from them…
