So for some reason it turned out really small here... to get a better view please visit the reference sheet on my DA account --> http://sassyheart.deviantart.com/art/Catearo-Species-Reference-Sheet-585924695
I've been working on and off on this for the past week or so and I'm so happy i can finally post it!
It's my new and improved reference sheet for my original species. I'm so much happier with how they turned out this time around :D
everything you need to know about them is either listed on the reference sheet or in the information down below. If theres a question I have not answered or you're interested in learning something that is not posted about the species please by all means, ask away!
---> This is a closed species. Meaning the only way you can get one is through myself.
---> Any similarities between this species and another is purely a coincidence.
---> I will be selling these in the near future through adoptable's and customs if anyone is interested
Species Information
--> Species name: Catearo (Cat-ear-o)
--> Diet: Herbivore, mainly berries and other fruits
--> Habitat: Forests and grasslands
--> Average Lifespan: 25-30 years
--> Average Height: 1 foot to top of head (not including ears)
--> Average weight: 5-8 pounds
--> Litter size: 1-5 "pups"
--> Their fur is silky smooth and they go through much trouble to keep it that way.
--> Catearo usually use abandoned rabbit burrows, hollowed out trees, or some shrubs as their dens.
Species Behaviour
--> Catero's are very sociable creatures amongst their own kind.
--> They have been seen living alone as well as in small groups
--> Around other species they become skittish and normally hide
--> As they have no natural defence Catearos have evolved shape hearing and eye sight.
--> they are quick runners, able it maneuver though dense forest undergrowth with no problem.
--> excellent climbers, many Catearo's can be found up in the trees, using their tails to balance.
--> Very intelligent and cunning.
--> Both male and female help raise their young. However once their offspring are old enough to look after themselves, it's not uncommon for both parents to go their own way.
--> Catearo's communicate though a series of, "yips", "yelps", "squeaks" and "chirps"
--> They love the water and have been seen playing in puddles and shallow streams
-->Catearos are drawn to shiny objects and it is not uncommon to see them with small accessories
Special notes on the species
--> Long body, similar to that of a weasel
--> Unusually large ears. In some cases can be tufted or have a spiral at the top. Rare curled tipped or "bent" ears have been recorded as well.
--> Tails are longer then their bodies. Tails can range from slim like a cats tail, to thick and fluffy like a foxes. In rare cases the tail can be curled into a "ring" structure, or even docked
--> Eyes are large and rounded with round pupils. Pupils are never black, they are instead a darker colour of their iris
--> Because of their diet Catearo's have smaller blunt teeth
--> Their pelts can come in almost any colour. Natural colours are more common, however unnatural colours have been spotted. Though no neon colours are possible.
--> The feather like sensor are attached just above their eyes and can range in length, most reach mid back, some stop near the shoulders and a slim few reach almost to the base of their tail
--> Their sensors are believed to be able to detect changes in the weather and environment around them
--> the "feather" like sensors, eyes, nose, mouth, and paw pads all share the same colour.
--> A Catearos paw pads differ from front to back. Front paw pads are all rounded. The main pad on their back paws is more heat-shaped and is overall larger.
--> In winter months a Catearo's pelt loses much of its colour, changing to more gray with just a faint hue of their summer colours. Catearo's who are already gray just lighten in colour.
--> All white pelts during the warmer months is not possible
--> At night a Catearo's eyes, sensors, and paw pads can glow at will.
--> Catearos have a unique gene that makes their markings symmetrical on both sides of their body
I will probably add more as I think of it.
