L: Soooooo... pizza?
I: Uhhhh... Thai?
L: Hrmmm... Italian, maybe...
I: Naaaaaah...
*Another pause*
L & I together: Shawarma!
L: So, I saved the world today... what about you?
I: Saved the world, yep... you know... same old, same old...
*Pregnant pause*

Isabelle's position in the series has always been the most in flux. For a long time I was not certain which side I wanted her to be on, and in the flashback ideas she always struck me as wanting Lauren's job as Lucas's successor, though she certainly would not complain being the master of ice. As a student she did indeed see Lauren as a rival and eventually after several clashes they come to have a mutual respect for each other. Lauren usually advocates caution while Isabelle would rather charge right in, but there are times when each responses is needed.
They can get along especially when they are not competing for something.
At one point I'd considered having Isabelle and Lauren be actual adversaries, but I found myself unable to do that on a permanent basis, though I wouldn't put it past them to be on opposite sides some day.

It's always nice to be able to sit down and have a nice, friendly chat after a long, hard day of saving the world. Jackie did a gorgeous job with both of them, and I really like the casual atmosphere and those relaxed poses. Though you do have to wonder just what those two are talking about.
Oh yes, not to mention that with such heavy responsibilities there are some times that only another master will understand the burden you carry. They in that way respect each other a great deal as both women know what the other must do and the goals they must balance. I knew I wanted a relaxed picture of the two of them as I hadn't had once since I decided I wanted to change Isabelle's hair color, nor since I established her formal Talwyn clothes other than the comic itself, of course.
