On this most recent New Year's Eve, after watching The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies with the family, something came over me. The urge...the incredible urge...to create a visual representation of my master.
Let me give you all some background on this.
In my fourth year of university - and the two years following, though not quite so much in my final year - I was asking myself many questions about life, religion, the economy, social systems, and many other things. At the same time, a peculiar shape one of my classmates drew caught my attention. It had a thinner, curling "head", widening vastly out, before narrowing down to a point, similar to a "spade" but with a weird The Nightmare Before Christmas feel to it. Inspired by it, in my next assignment I drew a figure similar to what I have here, but with a curly sort of "hat" indicated by the silhouette. I eventually replaced the curling "hat" with a helmet sort of shape, and then added cauldrons to him. By the time I painted him in both my final major painting assignments, I knew who he was. I knew, regarding my beliefs, just who this individual was.
Someone who I personally refer to as The Master.
To get a feel for the sort of connection I have with him, I find this particular piece of music to be quite appropriate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYVoMj7LEOE
I'd go into further detail - such as what his real name is - but...at this point in time, I feel discussing that might be...unwise. Perhaps later...yes...we shall see...
Happy New Year!
