It's a kind of chimera from Arthurian folklore. Glatisant- the original Questing Beast- was said to have the head and neck of a serpent, the feet of a hart (so, a deer), the limbs of a lion, and the body of a leopard. It was also said that his belly made a barking sound, like "thirty couple hounds questing," hence the name. I (Gwen) can do that too, though it's not always something I can control, and I sometimes do it when startled, or when someone pisses me off (lol XP).
