Elegans [ el-ah-gah- n ]

1. a mythical creature with a mixture of both elves and dragons counterparts. Depending on how severe the experimentation were, they may come with one additional animal feature.

In old times, mythical creatures and human did not cross paths, each stay in their own lane, until humans had the desire to expand their land into mythical territory. A poor move for the humans, as this caused a war. Some parts of the mythical territory were hit hard, and out of desperation, they experimented on various subjects to create a powerful new creature to help them in their wars. Dragons, the fiercest creatures of them all, extremely strong with great elemental power and Elves, long-living and in some cases immortal, agile and light, and have the most magical attributes. Together any would assume this new being would be powerful like a dragon, yet agile like an elf.

Elves were the child bearer's in these experiments, and where done voluntarily. They required special care and treatment to make sure the pregnancy went smoothly. During the stages of the embryo development, the Elegan forms its dragon counterpart. However, they do not develop properly and is the reason why the wings and tail are so closely together down their spin. In fact, some of their spin can appear to be seen in that area of the body. Elegans cannot fly, due to their wings not supporting their weight. However, even though they do not look physically strong they are power from their dragon counterpart. They are also magically strong, depending on the dragon's elemental power; the Elegan will be strongest in that element. Of course, these creatures retain their beauty from their mothers.

Even after successfully creating these new creatures, it took time for them to grow up. In some cases, they were abandoned during the chaotic war. Many of these abandoned creatures would be found in caves, acting wild like an untamed dog. In other words, they act territorial, just as a dragon would. You can catch them speaking in both dragon tongue and elvish language, mixing the language together leaving you confused, unless you too understand both.

If not taken care of properly or left abandon they will fall back to aggressive dragon-like behaviors. Additionally, left confused and out of placed because they still cannot live among dragons and may not fit into mythical societies standards without help.

Even after the wars, humans created stories of Elegans. Though they would call them monsters covered in beauty, how they hide in caves waiting for humans to fall into their lair.
