I learned quite a bit today. In particular why there are so few equestrian photographs from the late 1800's. If you can keep the horse still for two seconds the rider will move. If the rider is still the horse will move.
Following a horse and rider with 30lb's of tripod, and lens is not for the meek.

In this case we had solved the issue of getting the horse/suiter to halt on its mark, but it was unclear to
EquusSilvermane when the exposure was taking place. If we had another try or two I'm sure we could have nailed it.
The horse does dressage so it can halt and freeze, but horses will only freeze for so long with a rider on its back and it takes time to focus then get the plate into the camera.
