The Bubblegum Wolves
It was a fine day in a certain clear field, where all the wolves resided. Unfortunately, these wolves have never had any candy in their lives, despite being incredibly curious about what it’s like. The beginning of this fable focuses on one wolf named Carol. She woke up one morning and decided to take a walk across the field, until she happened to come across a large brown crate. Curious about its contents, she tried to open in, but it was jammed shut. With all her strength, she pulled and pulled, until finally it burst open causing her to fly a few feet away.
What was in here defied explanation for her. It looked like large round pink things. She had absolutely no idea what they were. She started at them for a while until she gave them a good sniff. It smelled sweet. Was this that candy everyone was talking about? She gave one of them a lick, finding out that it was indeed as good as it smelled. With a quick moment’s notice she put the whole thing in her mouth, and she chewed. Her mouth immediately watered. It was the best thing she’s ever tasted! She chewed and chewed until it lost its flavor. She attempted to swallow the thing, but it was too thick for her to do so. After several attempts she gave up, put it around her tongue, and heaved a heavy sigh, causing what appeared to be a bubble grow from her mouth. She was clearly confused, but she ended up blowing again, just to see what would happen. It grew bigger. With a few more blows, her reaction went from confusion to excitement, wanting to see just how big it could get. After a little while, she didn’t feel her paws on the ground anymore… She looked down to see she was starting to float in the air! She dangled her legs, but she only got higher and higher. From a distance, much of the pack saw what was going on, and they ran over. With no choice left, Carol popped the bubble, making her crash to the ground. There she found several wolves surrounding her.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” asked one of them, “I-I’m not exactly sure...” Carol replied, “I just had those weird things over there and then I blew a bubble and floated off the ground…” The other wolves looked over to the open crate, still with plenty in there. One of them tasted the gumball. “This is the best thing I’ve ever tasted!” he said, and all the other wolves got excited, went over and had one of their own. Carol could hear moans of pleasure from the sweet taste.
Then one of them began to blow a bubble. Curious, the others looked at him blow. He breathed in and puffed, causing the bubble to get bigger with each blow. Soon the others had to back up from how big it was getting. Then they saw him start to float up in the air, and they laughed. But this wolf was having fun in the air, and with each blow he started going higher and higher. The others, who were still chewing at this point, began to blow their own bubbles, and soon they were all floating in the air, and they started flying all over the field, blowing and having a great time.
Still on the ground, there was one wolf left: Alpha Schackenhausen (Pronounced SHACK-en-how-sen). Schackenhausen was busy doing alpha work when out of the corner of his eye he saw big pink bubbles and his citizens attached to them. He ran outside and got a closer look of what was going on, and then he ran back inside and held up a big red sign, indicating that everyone should come to him. They all popped their bubbles and approached him, still chewing their own gum.
“What the hell was all that you were doing?” He asked, clearly angry, “We were blowing bubbles!” a wolf chimed in cheerfully. “Well, I don’t want you doing that anymore” Schackenhausen replied. He walked over to the crate where the gumballs were held. “From now on this candy is banned from the pack. We no longer need to have anyone messing around with this…” He shuddered, “Atrocity” All the other wolves looked really annoyed. Carol marched up to him and tossed a gumball in his mouth. Entranced by the taste, Schackenhausen finally shut up and chewed. After a while, he decided “Fuck it” and he began to blow a bubble. He laughed as it got bigger and bigger with each puff. Before you could say “Schackenhausen, control yourself!” He was already ten feet in the air, thanks to the bubble. When he was about a hundred feet in the air and the bubble was nearly a thousand feet in diameter, he popped it, causing him to fly full force back down. The other wolves caught him before he could hit the ground. Schackenhausen was laughing like mad.
“So, are you going to reconsider?” Carol asked. “Absolutely!” Schackenhausen replied, “I will now pronounce this day Bubblegum Day for the pack!” And all the other wolves cheered.
Extremely obvious moral: Give something a try before you jump to conclusions.
My 6th fable, and a special something I made for my new friend pokemonartist.
