Chapter 004 of "Tails of the Old Republic"!
Whenever I started a new game of SW:KotOR, I found Trask's demise to be rather corny. It felt like, "LOL, a Dark Jedi! I'll go kill myself now!" Anyway, I tried to make his death a little more epic, instead of just being the disposable tutorial guy. I actually got a little teary-eyed writing it.
On another tangent, some may wonder why Tails reacts the way he does at the end here. I'll just say that, despite being a hero on par with Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles Prower has also witnessed a lot of tragedies he feels personally responsible for.
As mention last chapter, when I look back at 003 & 004, I have to say these are my least favorite chapters of the series. Making Tails kill to survive, so abruptly, will undoubtedly be a shock to many new readers, perhaps to the point of not desiring to read further. Considering the nature of this crossover, forcing Tails to defend himself like this is practically inevitable. I just wish to assure new readers that I'm purposefully trying to *avoid* wrecking Tails' kind and peace-loving character. Even understanding he did what he had to survive, Tails will regret his actions here, and this memory will loom over his mind for several chapters ahead.
