is meta Ridley a western dragon? or would you say he fits into some other group?
So I did a quick sketch of Meta Ridley, and then I thought I'd spend a few minutes going over it in Gimp with the mouse. Next thing you know, I found myself trying out colouring digitally too.
It took way longer than it should have though, since I didn't use layers. Some of the shading is unfinished or just incredibly lazy, because I lost over an hour's progress at one point due to a saving issue. Overall, I like the simplicity of it, but I won't be drawing digitally very often at all.
Goddamn I love Metroid Prime. One of the most memorable moments for me is the brief cut scene where Ridley here flies over the phendrana drifts after your first visit to the space pirate laboratory there.

Pterodactyl-dragon? eee not know. Western dragon is pretty vague IMO, it'd be like trying to argue what species of dinos the Great Trio and Dromes are :P
Genpos got the crests of a dilophosaurus, but dilos don't have the raptor "kill claws" like Genpos does (Or viper fangs...)
Great Jaggi's got the JP-Dilo's ear frills (Which real Dilo's don't have, so that kinda puts him out of the Dilophosaur family), but what dino does he match up most with? Allosaur?
Velocidrome's clearly an oversized Velo though. He's got the thin narrow snout and everything.

Ridely is a Space Dragon created by Space pirate bio engineering, and became the general of the vast Space Pirate empire, mother brain cause shes Immobile Entrusts ridely to take care of her troops.
ridely is part dragon from mixtures of Races, the Pterodactyl part MAYBE part of the space pirates found dinos that got DNA from em for genetic research and maybe in a twist of fate dragons too.
by means Redly is HIS own draconic species, since he does breath fire/plazma, fly, same Weakness as dragon, but he is a Genetic bio weapon so there be a slue of other body modification.
