Scout's mother seems like a total and royal snooping bitch. I'm not sure why Scout would ever feel 'bad' about lying to her. I'm a little surprised he doesn't despise her for her overbearing attitude. What is his psychology behind that?
Fortunately (or unfortunately)? for me, I can't relate to the whole "sneaking around" business. I was living on my own by the time I started seeing other people in a romantic capacity, so there so no need to do that sort of thing.
Carson's mystery of why he is acting weird at certain points would of had me questioning him on it by now. I guess Scout doesn't want to 'rock the boat' too much? While I have zero issue doing so when I feel it necessary.
That outside dining scene turned me off. As in, when seeing how many bodies were packed outside like a can of sardines, I'd of told Carson I'm good with staying inside to eat.
Potential rape scene at the very end? When Carson pushes for 'round two' but Scout's reaction doesn't seem very into it?

Here's the thing: most parents (not all, but most) who do something like that, are just trying to protect their children. It could range from a variety of things for Scout's mother as to why she does what she does but more than likely parents have a good reason. If you have kids, you'll understand, I had time with my nephews and I was really protective of them, but also not overly strict to give them some room to breathe. But that's also because of stuff from my own life that I wouldn't want them repeating
Lucky you x3
The 'why' as to why Scout hasn't spoken up yet will come soon enough, and the reasoning behind it isn't the best, it's a fear a lot of people have.
Then you might not want to go anywhere out to dinner during season. I happen to work at a country club restaurant and let me tell you, if tat's your mentality just get take out xD
Whoa, whoa, whoa, uh uh. That's one thing I will never write about (unless it's to show the devastating affects of rape). I don't know about you, but I've had people push me on my back and start going, you get into it. When I meant "this time they didn't travel to my spine" I meant travel to a vital organ on his lower body

I don't have children and never will, so I can't relate as much. I have a niece and nephew, but it isn't my job nor responsibility to parent them. I might look after them if they're in my presence, but I won't put tracking apps on their phones and that other nonsense. I'm more "the cool Uncle" (I hope) as opposed to the mean, overly restrictive one.
Keeping an eye on your children is just as important as trusting them. Tracking apps are a huge overkill if you ask me and such gestures can really shake the relations between parents and children. A healthy interest in your child's activities is always a good thing, though.
It's not about being overly restrictive (using nephews was a bad example) but you have to care for them and make sure that they're safe. And if you have a child that lies a lot and is continually being deceptive of their whereabouts, the only way to know where they are would be through a tracker.
Government tracks us, what's the difference with it being a parent?

I don't like anyone 'tracking me.' Government, parent, or otherwise. I don't need a nursemaid. Maybe if the mother gave more trust in her son, he wouldn't feel the need to lie. But she doesn't. She seems of the ilk to be overbearing and controlling and possessive. A Norman Bates' mother even. We'll see if I get more sympathy for her as the story progresses, but for now, I dislike her intensely.
