Jon blinked twice as he blankly stare at the ceiling, imply laying there for a while as he place both his handpaws over his head. He couldn’t sleep. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t…
After all the stipulation he was thrown into last night, he couldn’t stop thinking about what Sterling had told him. ‘Dump the agent or be held back into the basic crowd’. It had him stumbling in his mind. Did he really have to go that far into standing out in the crowd that he would do that?
He slowly leaned up and looked around the room for a bit, noticing Micah and Morgan doing their nightly cuddles.... and Kelvin scratching his ass while he sleeps. Jon chuckled a little before he slowly getting out of his bed and quietly stepped over to his bag not trying to wake anyone. He slowly opened it and quickly searched inside, pulling out the one thing he holds close to, his mirror.
There are a lot of things that be had to be clear with himself, something the fellas wouldn't understand. Not that... They couldn't. So he didn't have any choice but to use his last resort.
As he sneaked out of his room, the meerkat looked around to make sure no one was in sight. He then took a small breath and slowly walked towards the staircase. He took a seat on one if the steps and begins to cancel out the distractions that surrounded him, keeping his focus in the reflection until his mind begins to form a mental image of his father again. The older Kat showed a calm smile as he looked at his son and said. “Hey there Lil J”
“Hey Dad” Jon said as he smiled brightly, feeling the sense of pure joy seeing his father again.
The older kat nodded as he continued look at his son calmly. He cleared his throat a little as he begins to ask in a gentle yet serious tone. “So what’s been going on in your mind?”
Jon couldn’t help but chuckle in a little bit of frustration. “Heh… I’m in a pretty deep ass hole man…” The younger kat said admittedly. “Real deep…”
“What is it?”
“This whole freaking Trivol decision…” Jon said as he held the mirror tightly in anger. “I mean shit… I mean as much as I hate to say it… Sterls is right about him not being able to contact me as much as the others… hell a MAJORITY of his clients are in the top 24… a good bit in the top 10 no less.”
“And you think it’d be wise to go to your separate ways on such a short notice when it comes to the other major events?” His dad asked, trying to absorb all the info he can to give him an answer.
Jon just shook his head sighed. “I don’t know dad… I really… really don’t” The younger kat admitted. “I mean coming from the outside looking in… that could harm my image making people believe that I’m not good to work with when it comes to the business standpoint… Dumping your agent 3 months in AND you haven’t even been drafted yet… that’s just shady in itself. And… how are Salts and his buds are going to feel about it.”
“You mean the ones who you talked trash about with Sterling before he put you in this situation?” his father snarked.
Jon sucked his teeth a bit and looked away. He knew that things that he said were uncalled for on his end. Even if he was just saying it just to say it. Then again, Sterling wouldn’t be seeing him as an equal if he try to defend them.
“Look… I know that what I said was out of line but…” Jon took a time to put his words carefully. “At least I’m trying my best to stick out from being just ‘another guy on the court.’ I mean hell, almost EVERY single draftee wants a shot at him… Everyone wants to beat him so he could them eye to eye.”
“Hmmm and knowing that… you believe it puts him on the top of the pedestal. Am I right?” The older Kat stated.
Jon nodded. “If you get a good amount of furs trying to prove you wrong… Then you’re on top. No matter what the analysts or scouts have to say. If people see you as the guy to beat… well that just shows you’re a step ahead.”
His father nodded and gave Jon a very serious look, and that look is something Jon is very familiar with. He has an answer.
“I understand that you are in a situation where no matter what you chance. It’s a huge possibility that you will lose respect by some, yet gain respect from others.” He said. “And I know you don’t want to lose that kind of respect from either side… but there’s something you need to understand.”
Jon blinked a couple of times as he listened to his father’s words carefully. He took a small breath and asked. “What is it?”
“Stop thinking about how others feel about you…” The older kat said. “You don’t see guys like Sterling, Malone, or Kidane caring about whether people like or hate them. They just continue to do what they. I’m not telling you to have that same attitude, but you have to make decisions that helps your future. Not anyone else. So no matter what you choose...stick with it and continue to put your name as one of the greats out there.”
Then the image begins to fade, and Jon was back into reality. The kat blinked a couple of times and looked back up to the window that was near him. “Stop thinking how others feel about you” He repeated aloud.
Hearing those words put a spark in his mind. Jon knows that in order to take that extra mile, you got to do whats best for you. Even if you lose respect from others because of it. At that moment, all the worry was thrown away. He got up and went back into his room, planning to make one important call, first thing in the morning.

I really like this story dude. And hell, even Trivol doesn't know how to quit haha. In any case though, great story and yeah, Micah will feel sour but he respects his decision.
