That slightly threw me, as well. I didn't realize the inverted V glyph was "Л". I took it as a mis-inked "А" until my translator suggested "мой хлопчык".

Belarusian language has w-sound like in inglish, but only after vowels (instead of u, v, l in specific position ) (and in Classical Belarusian Orthography it also can be used in borrowing in any position)
though "i" in beginning of word or in middle after vowels can sound like "yi" (or yee . eengleesh orthografee is strange for me sometimes x3)
my it would more realistic to write here "uv" or "wv" in beginning of words instead of w,v or stay there just "w"

"o" ("oh" if write this sound by eengleesh orthography x3) becomes "a" ("ah")when it is not under stress (komunízm -> kamunizm , but in language standart of that time this rule did not work in borrowings , thought idk is that pani (madam*) literate? and maybe in everyday speech did not even care and already at that time pronounced it as "kamunizm")
