Alright, so. Salem.

Salem is a mix between two creatures surgically sewn together (fun fact, you can see the scars if you look close enough). He's half deer and half cat. He was the first product of an experimental procedure in an alternate universe where technology has advanced further than ever imagined- But only the most rich can hope to afford it. His number is 202-2949a. His brother, Caspian (ref coming soon) is b. Salem was brought to life using a magical method that has basically never been studied before. In fact, he doesn't even have a heart. The scientists hired to create him waited quite some time for him to breathe before dumping his "dead" body in a graveyard. Minutes later, Salem came to life and began to breathe on his own. He is a weak soul, and the spirits living in the graveyard constantly harass him, and even sometimes take over his body to finish their business. Luckily, no one in the nearby town has caught a decent glimpse of him, and he's safe for the time being.

Salem can read and count, but he can't speak or sign. He can only create a very high-pitched sort of scream when frightened. He has a limited form of telepathy that he can use to speak to his brother, and to small children who haven't accidentally trained themselves not to use the power as of yet. He's very anxious nearly all the time, given the large number of spirits in his home, but he calms significantly after making the journey to retrieve his brother.

Though I use he/him pronouns for Salem, he is a genderless being.
