This was one of only four of its kind built. The reason for this car to be built was to break the Italian speed record sanctioned by the French government, to which it did beat the record over Bugatti. It then went on to race in Grand Prix and at Lemans. Two of the cars went on a decade later to be rebodied into road legal cars. So this and one other remain as they were nearly 80 years ago.

The Indy 500 ended the riding mechanic rule during the 1930s. Grand Prix racing even earlier than that.
