This is another commission by
rjbartrop; this one is based on a story I've been writing off and on over the last few years. The original idea was inspired by Sol Bianca: The Legacy... combined with dissatisfaction with how the series went, due to seeming like they were budgeting plot for a 13 episode series then got told halfway through they only had 6 episodes.
In any case, the world background here is centuries after a diaspora where people left Earth behind. Earth had baseline humans, but those who left were changed due to using a poorly understood warp drive that was quite literally half magic. The ship pictured was built at the start of the diaspora by some serious mystics, and then lost for most of the intervening centuries. It's built like an old wooden 'brig', but fully capable of space flight and warp drive as well as landing on a planet and sailing the waters.
In order of joining the crew, as it were:
The kitsune in the middle is Shiden Sakura, daughter of an exile from her clan and a pirate with a bit of a Robin Hood complex. She's also the captain of the ship, an expert with those swords she carries, and capable of enough magic to do things like twist gravity around on you if she wants to.
The mouse to her right is Muriel, who actually came with the ship; she's an android (though of the others, only Sakura knows that) and has the best understanding of how to run the ship... but even she doesn't really understand how it works.
The wolf to Sakura's left is Lucille, an escaped gladiator who fought her way off her home planet before getting found and recruited by Sakura, and deciding that this sounded a lot more interesting than fighting for other people's amusement. She's smarter than she looks, and a good tactician as well as brawler.
The pegasus on the far end is Angeline Pelanthra, daughter of a noble family on her homeworld. (Actually daughter of a dalliance between her noble pegasus mother and the unicorn Captain of the house guard, which is part of why she left the planet when that was found out.) She's a natural pilot, and a crack shot when needed.
And on the other end, the black cat is just known as Stormcloud. She's the latest crew member, and seems to live permanently a second or two ahead of everybody else. Put her in front of a combination lock and she'll walk through by dialling numbers randomly. But outside of critical decisions, she tends to lose focus and wander.
Of course, Sakura hasn't told most of them just why she stole the ship in the first place...

Parts of it are done (though the earliest parts would need to be recopied from hardcopy as files got lost). I'll definitely consider it. Though things will generally be sent to
FNC before being posted publicly.
Gah, it's been close to four years since I actually worked on this. Too many stories in my head, not enough free time and mental space to work on them.

Well, just saw this, and pardon me for a long-belated comment. VERY nice. I definitely see the Sol Bianca influence in the crew, especially the mouse. The ship itself, though... Do I detect a hint of Photon Starsailor Odin? (Also known as Photon Starlight Galleon Odin and Starlight Galleon Odin)
Haven't seen those, actually. For the ship design, I was mixing in a lot of influences, including some from a superhero RPG world background I was working on at one point. The end result was the Brig you see here, because the original designers had some romantic visions of the Age of Sail, with a more Space Battleship Yamato-like main gun mounted along the spine. The technology they were working with is pretty much literally half magic.
Reminds me also of some designs I've done for various Mekton Zeta RPG games, yes it does. Then again, much of anime is space opera hand-wavium anyway (though it can look AWESOME!) ^_^
I do like the overall piece, and look forward to reading anything that might come of it. Many many thanks for sharing.

I play Mekton Zeta with a few local friends, actually.
Did a 3D render of the skunk-themed Roadstriker at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/7781238/ with a link there to the Youtube video I did of the transformation sequence. Need to do some work on that at some point.
Heck, need to re-do some of that with the updated mech, where the skunk form can merge with a fighter/eagle transformable roadstriker to get a combined winged form at some point...

Oooh, you and I should trade stats for that at some point. I rather adore still statting things up for MZ+. Tell me: do you use Dataweaver's Advanced Transformation Rules? I highly recommend them. They in no way invaldate the base, built-in forms, complimenting the layout as opposed to being some unbalanced set.
Yeah, so do I.
Sadly I only finished 7 chapters of what would have been a 24 chapter story (each chapter being 'numbered' using the Greek alphabet, and I only got up to Eta). It's one of those cases of 'I know where I'm going, but I haven't figured out how to get there'. And checking the file timestamps, I haven't touched this one in seven years.
