Well Raphael is a huge fan of Japanese shows, superheroes and numerous other things. Here he's excited about obtaining magic, so what does he think of? "Sailor Moon"!!! One of my favorite Japanese shows ever!

Transforming into magical outfits is one of those big things where... yeah it should be embarassing, but as a fan.. IT'S AWESOME!!!!

oh yeah I remember Sailor Moon....but with the not so impressive English version (well I was 7 when I watched it and I thought the voices were a bit odd....that and I had no idea of anime)
they seem to be big on transformations over there in the land of the rising sun.

Yeah, the english dub of sailor moon seems to be among the worst English anime dubs of all time.... as much in the years to come they seemed to have tried topping that.

THEY like transformations?! I like transformations! I know a lot of people who like transformations!!!!!

As a reviewer I sometimes wish to make jokes like: It's good.... but it would be a lot better if each episode featured over minute long transformation sequences!!!!

I do this to mock how genuinely stupid this really is hehe

Maybe they included the transformation scenes to save on animation and to pad out the episodes....cause looking at it again I get the feeling they were on a tight budget (like Digimon--which has some pretty rough looking backgrounds as a result)

Exactly. Each episode was filled with this animation to save some money, however Sailor Moon or Digimon both tried to make these animations seem amazing and grand, so that we not only don't mind seeing them.. we WANT to see them badly! That's how you should do it :-D

I see...well honestly I think the animation and transformations (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMiRZytENq4) are pretty well done, definitely more interesting than in MLP (which is a pile of annoyance on top of a heap of boredom ), just seeing the use of colours and styles is pretty impressive. Though I always thought Sailor Moon was a bit weird....why are you fighting inter-galactic monsters in skimpy mini skirts and sailor costumes? :o
But I think it is better than MLP in many retrospect--the characters are flawed in Sailor Moon but with a lot of heart and kindness, as opposed to the shallow, screaming and sometimes even mean Mary Sues of MLP.

Ok enough MLP for now..... I'm still not ready to speak about it. HOWEVER, I admit that one of my main points that I think of when I think of MLP is that it does seem like less in comparison to Sailor Moon and yet it seems like liking MLP is a lot more accepted, then again it could be just the fact that now I've got the internet to latch onto and not just the bullies who beat me up in school.

There are many elements of Sailor Moon where you can question the logic, but I think it was just a fun show. Characters fighting against bad guys using magical powers. It's something I kind of try to do with my own comic, but ... I can never compromise the sexy outfits there hehe

well I decided to compare the two because they're both popular girl's shows x_x

And both find a large audience among males, heh
