Backstory:
In the beginning, around the time of the Industrial Age, there was Nora, a young warrior tieran who fought against all sorts of forces which sought to upset the lives of the innocent. One of her primary foes was my demonic centauress, Velirai, a being which took pleasure in transforming and ruining people's lives, something Nora couldn't stand for. Her task was made more difficult as Velirai's bumbling but somewhat competent servant, Saint Arguston, clashed with her numerous times while his master continued about her evil ways. In addition, there was also the Fetid Queen who terrorized the Tepestrian countryside from her Fetid Express, a rustic shambling mess of a train, maintained by gnomes and dwarves, while the rest of her insect anthro family used it as their mobile home.
After being blessed by the Elemental Guardians, Nora used her new found powers in addition to the skills and abilities she already had to bring balance and peace to the world. But as threats such as Velirai were never truly gone, Nora knew that there must be someone to defend the innocent in future times. She would clone herself, and from this clone she'd be reincarnated in some manner throughout the ages, while having immortalized herself as a nature spirit to keep watch over her incarnations as they continued to defend and protect. Unfortunately, over time, the need for a hero grew less and less, with globalization and modernization reducing the social powers that deities and other powerful entities had, and enabling people to combat such forces if need be. As a result, today's incarnation of Nora is a fairly toned down girl, not a warrior or defender but a laid back civilian. And human.
Aware of the presence of certain organizations that wish to exploit her, Nora Prime wanted to hide her new incarnation from them, but didn't want to intervene in her existence too much, as she is very much her own individual. So she saw to it that Nora would be born to human parents, as one, and be even further different in both body and mind from her previous incarnations to blend in and go unnoticed by groups looking for her.
At first, Nora enjoyed a peaceful, content life, interested in magazines, video games, hanging out with friends, and going to yard sales to see if she could find any "relics of the past". But at one sale, not only did two members from the Society of Bliss seem very interested in convincing her to join, she found herself being followed by two government agents. As she left the sale, a lysiran woman in a trench coat grabbed her, told her to stay with her, and get into her car, all the while looking back at the agents, who had stopped following but watched them very intently.
This woman, Alynette, was hired to protect her from these two sides: the Society of Bliss, which seemed interested in her to help them spread their message and influence, and the Public Health Organization, which wanted to investigate and study her hidden powers for their own purposes.
After spending much time in hiding, Nora was fed up with always being on the run, the inner personality of her past selves taking more hold as she wanted to stand up for herself. She sought out Nora Prime in the local forest and expressed interest in embracing who she was meant to be. Being convinced that she was indeed ready to take up her mantle, Nora Prime went ahead and encapsulated Nora in a pod formed from plant material. After some time, she emerged from it, no longer human, but tieran, her true race.
While the Society of Bliss and the Public Health Organization increased their attempts to recruit or capture her, with Alynette's help, Nora evaded and resisted all such attempts.
Having grown curious, Nora asked Alynette who hired her to do this. After some convincing, Alynette revealed that it was someone inside the Public Health Organization, the one Dr. Daniel Peats, who was very concerned for Nora, fully aware that the Public Health Organization would essentially tear her to shreds in order to get the power and knowledge they want from her, while the Society of Bliss was a very controversial group that no government trusted due to their over-happy way of life and huge support for body modification in order to achieve true happiness.
Dr. Peats informed Nora that the Public Health Organization was getting more and more desperate to find her as the corporation they belonged to, Vybrylon, lost patience - highly trained soldiers and mini-tanks were being heavily utilized in the Cartrian countryside as they tried to track her down. He told her that it would be best to leave Cartria and head to Tepestria, the tieran homeland, and stay there for the time being. Thus, Nora and Alynette ventured across the ocean to Tepestria, landing in the city of Southport, where they have remained ever since.
While the Public Health Organization was not aware of this, there was a small presence of the Society of Bliss in the city. But they knew nothing of what made Nora so special, and thus did not actively pursue her like their Cartrian counterparts did.
Nora currently lives in an apartment a block down from the base of a local vigilante group, one which Alynette used to work for until Dr. Peats hired her. Alynette thought it would be safe to be close them them - being opposed to forced and dangerous transformations, they could be a good ally should the Society of Bliss there learned about Nora's abilities, or the Public Health Organization found them. But they seem like a shady bunch, with the one co-leader having a twisted sense of justice, the other being dominating bigot, using transformations to punish those who did wrong in their eyes. They scared Nora, but Alynette assured her that she had nothing to fear from them.
Despite all the shady characters around her, Nora tries her best to live a good life in Southport, until her and Alynette figure out their next course of action.
I spent SO much time on this picture. But was it ever worth it!
Being one of the first fleshed out characters I made in recent years, Nora holds a very special place in my heart. As the story says, she started out as a warrior fighting against evil foes, acquiring various powers to transform and enhance herself to help bring peace to the world. But last summer, I decided to play with the notion of Nora being that one special person who exists at all times since she came to be, with her current incarnation being less warrior and more civilian. But sadly, like many of my stories, life has a way of being cruel, as she finds forces not threatening the world, but threatening her. While she has now embraced her tieran roots, she still isn't ready to stand against the Society of Bliss or the Public Health Organization.
There is still much to figure out, and even what I have figured out already might change. This is just acting in regards to what I've established in my sketchbook and partly from previous uploads.
For the picture itself, I was in the mood to try cel-shading, but I - as usual - was struggling a bit with it. So I decided to go for a combination of cel-shading and soft shading. I'm actually quite pleased with how it turned out! ^^ The background was tricky to figure out something for, but I think this works well with her.
At long last, I finally got around to making a new reference piece for her. ^_^

Mmmmm, yes~ I will be playing with stuff like that in the future, but being a main and important character, I need to be fairly 'tame' with her. But that isn't to say she and her friends don't get themselves into odd pickles or try out fun things every now and then. You will be seeing more of her sometime, for sure. ^^
