-Palaven, 3 years ago-
Sabi was in her room, reading a book on who to act and behave like a proper lady. She groaned as she only had a few pages before closing it and put it on the small table next to her bed. She had done her mandatory hierarchy service but when she got home again, her parents quickly placed lessons on her to behave and stuff for the company. However Sabi found it boring and silly, why would she had to be someone she didn't want to be. Noticing her lack of learning, she got settled with a strict teacher, who made sure she kept on the lessons. Sabi's mood got worse and worse and hated it how she was put up with this. She locked herself in her room from time to time and didn't attend to dinner. Her parents told her it was for the best, it was all for the family and company they held up and she should be proud and accept these teachings.
-A couple of weeks later, 01:00am-
Sabi was so done, she was staring at herself in the mirror. She couldn't sleep, she kept thinking of how her parents treated her. She worked herself up, thinking of all the lessons and scolding of her parents. "I HATE IT" she shouted before she punched the mirror. She flinched as a piece of glass made a sharp cut on her thumb but she didn't care. She started to tear the mirror apart, still shouting that it wasn't far, cutting herself more in her hands until the mirror lay all over the ground. The door opened up and her mother quickly called over Sabi's father. Sabi's hands were covered in blood as she was sitting in the chair again, looking down at the many reflections of herself in the shards of glass.
-Early morning-
If her father would been in the military, she properly had been undergo punishment but luckily he wasn't but his angry words hit her like a stick over and over. A car landed close to the house and a figure stepped out. He looked up to the house as he was holding some med kit before walking up to the door and rang the doorbell. Sabi's father opened up and stepped aside "Doctor Sevenian, welcome, she is in her room" he still sounded angry "You know the way". Vicarus nodded "Of course, I'll tend to her right away" he told him before making his way through the house. He arrived at the door of Sabi's room and noticed a bit of blue on the door and sighed "Sabi, its me, Vicarus, can I come in" he asked. There was no answer but he opened the door and stepped inside before closing the door. The mirror shards had been cleaned up but the wall and the floor around the small stand had blue stains all over them. Sabi was sitting in a corner, her hands before her, wrapped in some bandages. He slowly walked up and stood a few meters away from Sabi, who looked up slightly before looking at her hands again "Hi uncle....did father call you" she asked soft, there was a hint in her voice she had been crying. He sighed and walked up to her "He did" he told her before gently placing a hand on her shoulder, which made her shiver "Come, why don't you sit on the bed so I can treat your hands". Sabi slowly got up and walked to the bed, not saying a word and sat down. Vicarus carefully removed the bandages, making Sabi groan a bit as he did.
Her hands were covered in cuts, some deep other less. Vicarus sighed and stroked over his fringe "Still as strict as ever....not even allowing medi-gel" he said displeased "As a doctor I disapprove of this but he always been like this". He opened the kit and started to apply some special medi-gel over Sabi's hands. She pulled her hands back as it stung "I'm sorry but it will heal faster" he told her and she moved her hands back to continue the treatment.
Eventually he wrapped her hands with some fresh bandages and got up when he finished treating her hands "You take care of yourself and please..don't do anything silly like that again" he told her and gave her a pet on the head "I hate to see you hurt, you know that more then anyone". Sabi looked up at him before getting up and hugged him tightly, sniffling heavy. "Oh my" Vicarus looked a bit surprised but returned the hug and patted her back "It's oke Sabi, now, I need to go, I have to go tend to other people who need help though I rather would have stayed" he gently moved her off him and looked at her. He smiled a bit and rubbed a tear away "I'll come over another time to check on your hands, oke?". Sabi looked down and nodded a bit "...Oke" she mumbled as she rubbed her eye "Stay good" he told her before getting back down.
Vicarus walked up to Larso and stopped "You really shouldn't push her like this brother" he told him as he looked at him "And no medi-gel, what's with that" he asked with a low voice. Larso huffed and waved it off "That's because she has to learn it's for her own good" he spoke "I'm sure she has learned her lesson, nothing for you to worry about besides if you had looked out b-". He was cut off by Vicarus who grabbed his wrist when Larso made a motion with his hand "Don't go there" he growled soft. Dimia came out a door and blinked as she saw Vicarus holding her husbands wrist "Something the matter" she asked. "No dear, he was just leaving" Larso said as he pulled his wrist free. Vicarus narrowed his eyes before making his way to the door "I'll come check on her again soon for a check-up" he told as he looked back again "no need, we got medi-gel enough here to apply to her cuts, so there is no need" Larso said as Dimia got up next to him. Vicarus made a fist but relaxed "As you wish" he said before leaving, returning to the car before making his way back.
-One month later-
"Coming through, get out the way, emergency". A cart was being wheeled in through the hospital halls. Medics kept check on the turian on the cart who was being moved to the ER, making sure she was getting oxygen. "What's the patients status" Vicarus asked as he was making his way to the ER "She shows signs of under cooling and has some water in her lungs. He nodded as he kept walking towards the ER while the nurse handed him the chart "Here you go doctor". He nodded as he took the chart and gave it a look. The moment he saw the name, he froze up as his eyes widened "No...not her" he said before running and pushed the doors open. Surrounded by medical personnel, it was Sabi who was laying on the table. He rushed to her side and looked her over "No bruising" he mumbled while felt her pulse "Weak but stable, get a blanket and rise the temperature of the table to make her warmer" he commanded as he went to work.
-1 hour later-
Sabi was laying in bed, hooked up to a machine to help with her condition. Vicarus might looked calm and professional as a doctor while looking over her current stats but inside he was furious. He gritted his teeth as he looked at Sabi "Cursed him, he should have know better with his stubborn head of his" he thought before his omni-tool flashed "Doctor, the patients parents have arrived "I'll be there shortly". He looked at Sabi again before walking off.
-Lobby-
Vicarus saw them standing in the distance and also noticed Larso talking to one of the receptionists demanding to see his daughter "Mister Erganesa" Vicarus called "Follow me, please" he said with a loud and strict voice. Larso looked up and blinked for a moment "Miss, If you could please remain here, I need to have a word with your...husband" Dimia "Is it about-". She was cut off "I insist" he spoke with a sharp voice. Larso opened his mouth but quickly shut it as he got a glare from Vicarus "Now, if you follow me" he said before he turned around and started walking, quickly followed by Larso.
- Dr.Sevenian's office-
Vicarus closed and locked the door once Larso stepped inside "So, what is this about" Larso asked arrogantly as he turned around before getting a punch in the stomach. He gasped for air as he stumbled back before he got pushed in the nearest chair and quickly got a punch against his nose. Larso groaned in pain as Vicarus stood before him and grabbed his shirt "You son of a bitch, have you any idea what you did, do you" he asked with anger in his voice. Larso looked at his hand which had a bit blood on it "It isn't my fau-". he grunted in pain as Vicarus grabbed his mandibles and pushed them back "Not your fault, is that what you wanted to say". He let them go and stepped away from him "I swear you are the worst father I seen, treating your daughter like some dictator". Larso rubbed his mandibles and huffed loud "At least I had her followed, if only you had paid better attention, then maybe your wife wouldn't have left you, when you went out on that trip with your daughter" he said as he got up from the chair before freezing up. "You, you had to bring that up, didn't you, mister high and mighty" Vicarus's face colour had turned white with anger and was giving his brother a true death glare "Thinking you know best, always belittling others, now SIT". Larso quickly sat back in the chair "n-now hold on" he began as he rose his hands up, seeing his brother make fists "No, you listen, you sack of shit, Sabi is a precious girl and apparently she feels more like a daughter to me then you" Vicarus spat at Larso "I bet Dimia saw the signs, that she was breaking down under all that shit, but you kept her back, always commanding others, telling what to do, what is right, now listen to me brother". He moved up close, staring into his brother's eyes "If you ever, EVER bring her life in such a danger again, ever, I will personally beat you up in the hospital, my hospital, and see to it you stay here a long time until I say you can go, you got that" he hissed. Larso swallowed and slowly nodded "Good, now" he moved back up straight and walked to his desk. He tossed a package of tissues to Larso and turned around "Sabi will be fine, she will need a week, make that two weeks to recover to full health" he told him "Dimia can visit during visiting hours, however till then, you will have to...make a appointment to see her, since you seem to love her so much". Larso cleared his throat "That sounds....fine" he said as he got another glare "Is that all" he asked while he cleaned the blood from his nose and hands "...Yes". Larso slowly got up and adjusted his clothing so he looked like his proper self again. He tossed the blooded tissue's in the bin and walked to the door "Thank you doctor" he said before walking out and closed the door.
-One day later-
Sabi slowly woke up and groaned as she opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry at first but then it cleared up and saw she was in a hospital room. The first thing that came to mind was that she wanted to end it and she jumped in the lake nearby. She curled up a bit in the bed, holding herself as she started crying. It wasn't long before the door opened and Vicarus standing in the opening. He was keeping a close eyes on her vitals when he noticed something was up. Sabi looked up a bit but then covered her eyes and cried even louder, she was sure he would be mad at her, for trying something like this, that he would scold her like her father would. "Sabi" Vicarus slowly walked up to the bed until he stood next to it. Sabi froze as she felt his hand on her head, waiting for the rant. However, Vicarus suddenly pulled her close against his chest, causing Sabi to let out a gasp of surprise. She looked up a bit at him before her eyes widened at what she saw. He was...crying "Sabi, oh, I was so worried about you" He said with a stutter. Sabi's lip trembled before she started crying again, pressing against him, telling him she was sorry of what she did "I...I.couldn't..he..I just" she cried to him. He stroked over her head and nodded "I know..." said soft as the tears fell down.
After some time passed away, Vicarus gently let her go as she sniffled and rubbed her eyes. He smiled soft at her before sitting on the side of the bed "Although I hate to say it...I'm thankful for your fa...my brother had you followed" he started. Sabi looked up him "Had me followed" she asked. Vicarus nodded slowly "If he had not, you would drowned but I'm glad you didn't...I don't think I could have handled it...not like last time" he placed a hand on his chest and seemed to rub over something under his clothing. "L..last time" she asked carefully as she looked at his hand and then back at him. He looked aside "Ah, that's right..you don't know about.." he went silent for a moment as he pulled out a necklace with a small glowing blue crystal on it "Let me tell you about my daughter, Evinia".
-The past-
"Daddy daddy, look at that" Evinia pointed all excited at a large tree "It's so big, even bigger then our house". A chuckle came from Vicarus as he watched her all excited "Yes it is and there are many more like that, now stay close, don't want to get lost now" he told her. She quickly walked over and grabbed his hand with a smile "Oke". They hiked through the forest, sometimes stopping to look at animals or to grab some food from there backpacks. After a bit of walking, they sat down for a bit of rest "It's so pretty here, could we come here again sometime soon" she asked as she grabbed a bottle of juice "Of course sweetie, when I can arrange time, I will take you for a hiking trip again" he promised with a smile. Evinia smiled and drank some of her juice with some lunch her father had made.
Eventually it got more dark as they were making their way back to the camp. Evinia stayed close to her father until they got to the campsite. They entered the large tent and settled in. Vicarus started to make dinner and smiled "Say, did I gave you your birthday present yet" he asked her "Not yet" she said as she was looking at some small rocks. She always had a fascination with shiny rocks "Why don't you check my pack, there should be a small box inside there" he told her with a smile. Within seconds, Evinia was looking through his backpack as he continued making dinner before she found the small box. She slowly opened it up and gasped soft. In the box was a small blue crystal that seemed to have a faint glow attached to a necklace. She held it up, looking the crystal all over before getting up and hugged her father tightly "It's beautiful daddy, I love it" she almost shouted out happiness. He chuckled and picked her up and rubbed his forehead against hers "Happy birthday princess and I'm glad you like it, I had a feeling you would". He set her down and continued with dinner while she put on the necklace and admired her present. After dinner, served up a small cake. Once they had finished up, Evinia quickly fell asleep against her father when he told her a story. He chuckled and tucked her in before he lay down in his own bed and fell asleep.
-Next morning-
The first to wake was Vicarus, who stretched out and groaned as he woke up. He slowly got out bed and looked down at Evinia. She was still very much asleep as she lay there, he bend down and gently rubbed his head against hers before heading out. There was a nearby stream with a small lake nearby. The stream was shallow but it ended in a small fall in a lake. Using a towel he had taken with him, he dipped it in the water and cleaned himself off with the wet towel. It wasn't much but it was enough, once he was done, he used the other towel to dry himself before he returned to the tent. Inside Evinia was eating some breakfast "Morning daddy, are we going home today" she asked during bites "Morning sleeping beauty" chuckled "And yes, we leave in about a hour or two, just need to pack our things but first you need to clean yourself up" he told her "Can't have mommy see you like that, now can we". He grabbed the two towels for her "Now remember what I said" he started "Don't go to far and be careful at the stream, I know daddy, you told me before" she told him "Atta girl, now go and wash so we can get home soon". She hurried out the tent towards the stream "And shout if you need help or something, I'll come running" he called after her.
Evinia was kneeling at the stream, making sure she stayed on the side of it though it wasn't deep, even for her. She shivered as she rubbed the cold wet towel over herself "Brrr, cold" she said while she continued. She stopped as she felt her crystal "Ow, you need a cleaning too" she said with a smile as she took her necklace off "Get you even more shiny". She held the crystal and dipped it underwater, rubbing it with her fingers before it slipped from her hand "No, come back" she called as the stream took the necklace down stream. She followed it, trying to get it when she got close but missed. She stumbled into the stream and shrieked from the cold water she fell into. She stood up, looking around before seeing the crystal and quickly waded after it through the water. The end was nearing quickly but the necklace got stuck in a plant. She quickly walked up and untangled the necklace.
Meanwhile Vicarus had heard the shriek and ran too the stream. He looked around, seeing only the towels and clothing " Evinia, where are you" he called as he moved down stream, fearing the worst. He noticed her in the distance, moving through the water " Evinia, get out the water, it's not safe" he called to her as he saw her being close to the fall. She looked up and waved while walking to land "I'm oke, my necklace fell but I got it again" she called back. As she walked, she didn't pay attention to the muddy edge of the stream and slipped backwards, bumping her head underwater against a rock, knocking her out before the stream pulled her with. "Evinia" Vicarus ran towards her, as she was getting closer and closer to the edge. His feet left claw marks in the ground as he rushed towards her. He jumped forward as her body was slipping over the edge and reached out for her.
-Present-
"But I missed...all I got was the necklace" he told Sabi as he stroked the smooth surface "I rushed down as fast as I could to the lake as I called for help..but" he clenched his hand into a fist and pressed it against his forehead as he shivered and shook. Sabi had just been listening, not wanted to interrupt him. He punched the bed, making Sabi jump a bit "If only I stayed close..then she..she" he looked at Sabi "Promise me" he grabbed her hands as tears started rolling from his eyes again "Promise me...you won't do it again" he asked "You are like a daughter to me and losing you...". He looked at her with sorrow eyes, his memories of that horrible day filling his emotions. She could feel his hands tremble as he held hers "..I promise uncle..I promise" she told him as she slowly removed his hands from hers and pulled him into a hug before she started to cry herself.
-Visits-
Time passed by, Sabi's mother visited several time, mostly she told her how sorry she was for not stopping the lessons or trying to help her because her father told her to not interfere with it. Sabi was sceptic but forgave her as she looked like she was telling the truth and her uncle backed her up. Her father visited twice, both under the watch of her uncle.
At the first visit her father just sat in a chair, not to far from the bed. Sabi shouted at him, giving his hateful glares, calling him names, telling him it was all his fault, that he caused her damage, her pain, her suffering. He just sat there, letting her words and shouting hit him. When he left, he walk seemed different, as if he was weak on his legs.
The second visit was different. Again her uncle was there to keep a eye out, just in case. Sabi was glaring at him again, asking if he was proud of himself that he caused her to try and kill herself all profit and what not. He asked her to stop but this only made her more angry. She got up from bed, stepping a bit closer as she shouted at him. He shivered and looked like if her words hurt before he ran to a trash bin and puked. Sabi blinked and looked at her uncle. Vicarus waved it off ,walked up to his brother and bend down to him before pulling him up from the ground. He smirked as he looked at Larso's face, his mandibles were shivering as he has some vomit on his chin and suit, he looked like a mess. He put him back on the chair, where he got another rant from Sabi for a moment before she told him to leave. He did so but used support of the surrounding furniture and walls.
-The mansion-
Sabi has returned after her time in the hospital with her uncle to the house. Her mother opened the door and hugged Sabi "Oh, Sabi" She said, hugging her a bit stronger before letting her go and stepped aside. They made there way inside before her mother closed the room "Your...father wants to see you" she told her with some hesitation "About your...education". Sabi shivered slightly and sighed "Figures" she mumbled as she looked at her uncle. Vicarus hummed for a moment, thinking for a bit "Doesn't have to be bad, you want to go alone" he asked her "I can handle him now, I think, just stay at the door". He nodded and followed behind her to her father private room.
Once at the door, Sabi took a deep breath before she knocked on the door "Enter" Larso called. Sabi entered the room and closed the door behind her. Vicarus stayed close to the door just in case he would had to step in. Her father was standing looking out the window "Welcome back Sabi...I hope you are well" he asked her "Like you care" she countered him. He slowly turned around and looked at her, still with his stare he normally gave her but something about them was different. He sat down in his chair and looked at some papers "please, sit". She looked surprised when he asked please but kept standing "About your lessons" he started, at which Sabi glared "I will lower them down to five times in the two weeks instead of 5 each week" he told her and looked up. Sabi just stood there with a open mouth "y..you". Her mandibles shook before she turned around and pushed the door open and slammed the door shut. Vicarus jumped a bit from the slam "Sabi" he asked but she was already walking away . He followed behind her "Sabi, what did he say" he asked her "I'm going, I had enough of this here...of him" she growled angry. She entered her room and grabbed the nearest suitcase. Vicarus stood in the door opening, just watching her grab and toss away clothing, only grabbing the simplest of clothing she had before he walked off. He activated his omni-tool and called someone "Hey, it's me, say I want to in that favor....yes do you still have that place..good, no it's not for me".
Sabi had packed her suitcase with some clothing while rubbing her eyes a bit. Dimia walked up to the room and looked at the cloth filled room "Sabi" she asked soft. She turned around and put the case on the bed "I'm going mom, he just keeps it up...even after all what happend" she told her. Dimia looked down the hall for a moment before walking up to Sabi and hugged her close "I will arrange that one of the drivers to take you where ever you want" she told her "I love you to much for him to ruin you again, my sweet Sabi, my daughter, my angel" she said with a sniffle. She gentle stroked Sabi's mandible as she looked at her "Thank you mom" she said and hugged her tight as some tears rolled down her cheek until her uncle walked in the room "Got your things" he asked her. Sabi let her mother go, nodding as she rubbed her tears away "Good, we are leaving, you are leaving" he told her and walked down the hall. Sabi just grabbed her suitcase, gave her mother a quick kiss and followed after him.
Vicarus made his way to the front door before a voice called "Where are you going with my daugther" Larso asked in a loud demanding voice. He turned around and pointed at him "Away from you" he shouted "You seem not to think over your own faults through your thick skull". Larso slowly made his way down "Sounds like kidnapping to me, making secret calls, I saw you through my camera's calling someone" he said and watched Sabi coming from the other hall with a suitcase "I will not allow this" he called out. He tapped away on his omni before security bots popped from the walls and the doors locked up "And you, young lady, will remain here" he said as he looked at her. Sabi mandibles shivered in rage and fear as the bots aimed there guns at Vicarus. "Always the control freak, always want to have everything in your own hands" Vicarus called to him as he stepped away from the door "And it has worked out well for me since" Larso called back as he walked down to him. "Enough". Everyone looked up seeing Dimia standing on the stairs "This is enough Larso, you have to let her go, you have to stop this" she called "Dimia, this is something between me and-". He stopped as Dimia suddenly glowed up "LARSO ERGANESA" she shouted out. Vicarus and Sabi just stared amazing as she jumped down the stairs and landed on the floor. Before they could do anything, the bots got swung across the room and against the wall "You will hear what I have to say". Larso stood shivering in fear as he looked at his wife walking up "You will let her go this instant" she growled loudly. Larso whimpered and tapped away feverishly on his omni-tool. The door unlocked "..B..but" he said" But what" she asked with a snarl "..the...company" he said very slowly. He suddenly glowed with blue light before he was swung across the floor and ended at the stairs, getting knocked out as his head hit the floor. "Sabi, come here" Dimia called as her blue aura faded away. Without hesitation Sabi quickly walked over to her mother, avoiding her father "Listen, I know your father...is the worst father in this galaxy but he is only right in this part, though you don't like it, you are his heir and will need to take over one day". Sabi looked at her father for a second but nodded "I will talk to him and I'm sure he will listen" she chuckled before turning to Vicarus "You get her somewhere she can live her life as she wants". He nodded and opened the door quickly "The driver will take you where you need to be". Vicarus and Sabi got outside "Mom" Sabi said as she turned around as Dimia stood in the door opening "Yes my sweet angel" she asked. "You kick ass" she grinned wide before quickly getting to the car as her mother giggled. As Sabi got to the car, Vicarus rubbed his fringe and smiled "Like I said before, it's a shame we, you know" he smirked. She rolled her eyes and smiled "I know but he was such a loving man, he still is in a way, now go".
-Spaceport-
Vicarus had the driver bring them to the nearest spaceport. He kept Sabi close, just in case her father had someone to prevent her from going. He walked up to a bench and sat down with Sabi before a turian sat behind them "Problems" he asked. Vicarus leaned back "Just a little one" he responded in which the turian nodded and walked off. Vicarus then tapped on him omni and send data he just got over to Sabi "That's your ticket to the citadel" he told her and smiled as she looked at him with large eyes "Yes the citadel and don't worry, you will meet a friend there". He turned to her and took her hands "Don't hold back, be who ever you want you to be once you are there, live out your life". He let her hands go and removed the necklace from his neck. Sabi was about to protest as he did but he shook his head "I want you to have it" he told her and slowly put her it over her head and let it hang down on her neck "You almost look like her" he told her and smiled "Now" he got up and got her suitcase "Lets get you to your port".
Vicarus walked her to her shuttle once she had her ticket and luggage checked. He hugged her closed "I'll promise to visit once in a while, when things settled here" he said with a chuckle. Sabi kept holding him for a bit longer and then let him go, rubbing her eyes a bit "Don't worry uncle" she said with a smile "I will keep in contact". The last call for the shuttle got announced over the system "Will Sabi Erganesa please board the shuttle for the citadel, this is the last call". Sabi smiled and rubbed her forehead against her uncle's before walking down the hall quickly to the shuttle. She sat down in her seat and leaned back. She breathed in and out slowly, holding the crystal in her hand and looked at it "I will make you proud uncle, I promise" she whispered soft. As if the crystal had heard, it glowed a bit more brightly in her hand as a feeling of happiness flowed through her, as if the spirits told her this would be a whole new beginning.

Ahhhh, this is awesome, Pyre. I feel like a dick for taking so long to get around to reading it.
I LOVE how you thought to incorporate the blue crystal necklace from her original design and give it substance and a backstory - a really sweet one at that. Poor Vicarus. I also love how Sab's mum is a biotic - was a nice twist at the end and a bit of a redemption for a character that seemed pretty weak willed until that point.
Well done, you. I'm lookin forward to when Vic makes an appearance in RP :}
