I think you took from Garnet's body shape more than how she was designed in the show. It's not bad nevertheless, it really looks like it could fit within it so well!

I promise you that wasn't the case, but Jasper's thickness varies between the two-parter so it is what it is, I guess.

The great thing about the show is that besides their colors, their designs really aren't always exact. Jasper is pretty thick, though. Not too far from Garnet, but her beefy upper half kind of balances her out more so than bottom-heavy Garnet.
