i don't know about good or bad,
but i've always found putting faces on things like that, deeply psychologically disturbing.
there was a lot of that when i was little, back in the late 40s and early 50s,
and i always thought it seemed like a way of trivializing and marginalizing children,
and their natural innate desires, to see and understand reality for themselves.

if i didn't already love trains, having seen real ones.
and hadn't seen real model trains, before ever having seen toy ones
i think if my first sight of anything resembling a train,
were something like that, i too would probably hate them,
the way so many ignorant and simple minded people seem to.
but then i don't really understand why people like to see portraits of people either.

It's actually a total dummy unit. Any train it's placed on has to be pushed/pulled from the opposite end by another locomotive. The shell on the inside is completely hollow with only a small generator inside the cab (you can see it vented out the top of the coal bunker) to power the sound system, face movements, and smoke generator in the front.
This thing was actually built so lightly that it has a specific operating rule that it can NEVER be placed inbetween a set of cars as there's an actual possibility it will crush.
