A kobold spies a root wolf ambush of some bandits he had been hunting below.
BUt he doesn't notice the beast creeping up behind him!
The perspective is a little weird in this one but I like it a LOT.
The background is awesome and the detail on my kobold is great. Look at him there, wonderful!

A creature I made up.
These big, ugly gnarly roots come from some unknown place deep in the earth, and they burrow through dirt and rock to breech the big caverns where living things are. They set up shop wherever they breech, making a big matted mess of vines and moss , making it an overgrown tangle almost overnight.
And from the root, within the tangle come the Root Wolves, which are like animated wooden wolves, mossy, full of sap and magic, that go out and hunt down any living thing they can find, kill it, and drag it back to their home root to act as food for the root that bore them.
They aren't much more intelligent than regular wolves except that they all have a mental link, so perfect pack tactics are something you can expect from them since they all share all their sensory input.
Being basically wooden constructs they have very little sense of self preservation too, the home root can simply make more. At an alarming pace. So the civilized people in the caves hunt vigorously for these roots to destroy them before they get a chance to establish themselves.
