We recently took in a new litter of kittens for our rescue organization www.catlove.org, and they're damn adorable! Mom was found in a feral cat colony wearing a collar, so it's believed she may have been abandoned, or might have run away to deliver her litter in the wild. She's a tiny mom, less than 9lbs, and only about a year and a half old. Fortunately she was befriended by a custodian to the colony and she and her babies were caught without incident.
Her 6 babies are all between 4oz and 8oz, so within 1-2 weeks old. Some of them still have little umbilical scabs attached to their belly buttons!
Mom is doing an excellent job keeping everyone clean and fat, so our duty as foster patents has been very easy so far. Mom just wants sooo many cuddles and headrubs, and is very trusting when we weigh and check on her littles.
If you want to see more pictures, I update my twitter more frequently with all the cute stuff. www.twitter.com/findadragon
We couldn't foster these wonderful animals without help from our no-kill rescue. They provide us with special high quality food and kitty litter, even cat toys and baby blankets. But they need help!
They rely 100% on volunteers and donations, to pay for hospital visits, shots and vaccinations, spays and neuters as well as all the food and litter these hungry critters need. They're a no-kill shelter that rescue "unadoptable" cats from the city shelters, that accept surrenders and also help trap street cats who just need a little help to become housecats.
If you want to help us, please check out www.catlove.org! If you live in the area, they're always looking for new foster parents to help with everything from bottlefeeding babies to rehabilitating senior cats who's families have surrendered them. Please consider donating, they use 100% of the donations for cat care and now that it's kitten season they need all the help they can get!
