That could be done, However the hard part would be to make a slapper or a bayonet that won't cause bleeding. These are toys after all.

thin sheets of 'fun foam' are good for stuff like that. tight cell, lightweight, head responsive and paintable

Funfoam sheets get used for LARP weapon detaining a lot. easy to trim and shape, adhesive to surfaces, and then coating over it. dense enough to keep fine detail, soft enough to not clobber people
