Couch Kitties: MONORAIL!
http://comicbook.com/2015/03/21/a-w.....-sale-on-ebay/
If you've ever been to Walt Disney World then there is a good shot that you have ridden on their monorail system. I'm sure the thought to many of you brings back some fond memories. How would you like to relive those moments by purchasing an honest to goodness monorail car? Welp, now you can.
A user on eBay is attempting to sell a monorail car that was used at Walt Disney World. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity as no other monorail car has ever been available to the public before. The seller is seeking $260,000, but bidding right now is only at $160,000.
Sylvia and Norma, of course, aren't letting a chance like THIS slip by...

Read the story, but when I clicked on the eBay link I got, "This listing (151621644994) has been removed, or this item is not available."
That doesn't surprise me. A few years ago some guy tried to sell what he claimed was an original Autopia car on eBay. The listing was also yanked. In cases like this, Disney asserts -- with some justification -- that these items remain the property of the Park, no matter how the individual may have acquired them. So they won't let you sell this kind of stuff on eBay.

e-bay is very definately not the place to look. (although you might find a scale model of one there)
in japan they have monorails of both major types, (stradle such as alweg, and suspended, such as safage) as actual communter trains.
for park train type ones, that british outfit i mention in another post, and somewhat closer to affordable, would be happy to sell you one.
disney has no lock on monorails.
used to ride the one in seattle all the time when i lived there.
there's some guy in freemont california, built his own in his back yard.
there was a litargue peg leg railway heading toward death valley or down that way somewhere too. (and of course the one with the funny name in eireland)
many parts of asia, and a very old one in germany, they're part of everyday transportation.
i don't even know why anyone would think of disney first.
i think people who want to sell you cars want you to think they're some kind of future fantasy, but really, they've been around for a very long time.
i know that one in (wupperthal) germany, still providing everyday transit, celebrated its hundredth birthday several years back.
they're not common because they're expensive to build, (the track structure) but in some situations they are a practical solution.
i know i'm beating a dead horse, but i'm always amazed, in a disappointed kind of way, by how many people don't know these things.
