Hi everyone. I've not posted anything for awhile so I decided to quickly write up my ideas for Babyfur: The RPG and post them up here for everyone to evaluate. There's not a lot there yet, but I think I've got enough for you to actually play if you're of such a mind.
I'm gonna be busy with an official playtest for another game until the end of April so that's when I think we'll wrap up this test too.
What I'm particularly interested in hearing about, in addition to mechanical issues are what sorts of Gifts, Faults, and Skills you think are appropriate. I think samples of people's fully defined fursonas would be especially useful in this regard as it gives some indication what kinds of thinks ought to be included in those categories.
Finally, please post any questions or comments below rather than sending them via PM as I'd like them all in one place for ease of access.
Thanks in advance for any feedback...

Sorry, I don't really do cons (social and financial problems preclude it). I would, however, like to hear from as broad a subsection of the babyfur fandom as possible before I institute any revisions so if you know anyone who might be willing to run a session or two please let me know. ^^
I had somehow missed this posting of the super-alpha rules. I gave them a quick once over and they seem pretty cool. I think I'm sold on the wound system you implemented. It seems kind of fun. I'm sure it's possible to improve them, but for the moment I think it works.
Are you going to stay away from a class based system? Or are you still working on that?

Unfortunately, I had to take a hiatus on my own design work to help with an official playtest for another game-product (which, unfortunately, hasn't been announced yet and so is still covered under the NDA), I did, however, post a bit of my own playtest in my latest journal - specifically that I feel a few additional stats might be required.
In the same journal I mentioned that I'd be holding off any further revisions until April 26 which is when the other playtest I'm working on ends which is why I've been so quiet on the subject. In answer to your specific question, however, I'm not yet sure how or if I want to integrate classes - I do rather like Yosh-E's 'job' idea, but can't really think of a good way to integrate it...

I think you could get away with a classless system. It sounds like it's a skill point based thing. I'm assuming there will be a number of skills based on the four attributes of Body, Coordination, Brightness and Cuteness. Probably akin to your four sample characters. You also made the magic spells based off the same skill system, which could be a good thing since the mechanics for spells and skills are the same. I assume that leveling at the moment is granting your players a pile of XP that they then use to improve their skills.
Maybe a job system involving outfits would involve the players spending their XP mastering a particular outfit? An outfit like mage robes grant you access to the skills: Swat +1, Wet +1, Nap +1 and Scholar +1 after you invest a skill point. Maybe instead of skill points we can call them affinity points. If you invest another affinity point in mage robes, you would get a +2 in all those skills.
I think I would still want a system that had characters with their own skills and powers beyond what equipment they're wearing, but Yosh E. O's idea of a job system based on costumes would be a fun variant for a unique babyfur themed adventure.

Yeah, I'm a bit conflicted myself.
I feel we'll need at least some point-buy elements, but I'd like to try and keep it fairly simple for the sake of accessibility.
My own take on jobs was that they'd require an initial investment in XP to acquire and would give a few minor bonuses of the type you've described, but would also give the babyfur access to certain other powers they could buy with XP, but as I've said I've still not had a lot of time to give it all the thought needed - also, I wanted to hear what I could from other potential players before making any actual decisions....
