The night was quiet as you explored along. The moon shone brightly in the deep midnight blue sky, illuminating your path. The stars, mere pin pricks in the night sky, seeming like thousands of eyes watching. You look up to the moon to see a shadow fly past it, making you stop in your tracks. Silent wings carry the female as she watches you, yet in the night, she is a mere shadow. You turn to continue only to suddenly stop as you see the six and a half foot tall gargoyle femme.
"Not often one is out this late at night. One should be careful." She speaks, an Irish accent to her voice and a grin on her lips.
Does she mean you harm or is she simply looking to maybe make a friend?
This is of my character Máiréad Caomhnóir. She's half gargoyle, half anthro dragon. Her mother was gargoyle while her father was anthro dragon. She has the ability to shift between her gargoyle form, an anthro dragon form and a feral dragon form, but also able to shift into a mermaid form as she is a...continuation/reincarnation of another character of mine who was half mermaid, half dragon. Máiréad has the ability to manipulate both fire and water(thanks to her old form) and because of being half mermaid in her old form, her tears have healing abilities.
Backstory on who she once was: Once named Aodhnait, the merdragon femme had been shunned from birth because of being half mermaid and half dragon. Her parents loved her dearly, an she learned to ignore those who made fun of her. When she was ten, her father was killed, which sent both she and her mother into a state called Shattered Heart Syndrome. When it hits a mermaid of this particular clan, their hair and scale colors fade and only return to normal when they find happiness again. Aod and her mother returned to her mother's home, where she was shunned, but there were some who tolerated Aod. Aod grew up and learned to find pearls and make jewelry from them. She took to selling her jewelry and it was during one delivery that she was captured and put into slavery. She arrived in a place called The Golden Tether where she was in the aquatic tank for a few days before a naga chieftain rented her and gave her a choice to work off her debt. She took it and he took her to his home island. There, she found a place to stay and worked off her debt. Over the months, much drama happened in her life, one of which was her being dismissed from the clan. Packing what little belongings she had, she left the island and spent some time on the island where The Golden Tether is located. She then decided to leave there and find herself. She came to another kingdom, but as she arrived, she noticed it was in the midst of what looked to be war. She heard cries from a child coming from a ship and as she looked, she saw a little princess on a ship with some raiders closing in on her. Enraged, she flew up from the water and shifted to her full dragon form and took care of the ship, saving the Princess. She flew the girl back to the castle where she was at first surrounded, but then quickly welcomed. The King thanked her and when she asked what was going on, she found out. She offered to help and the King gratefully accepted her help. Aod fought along side the gargoyles(who did NOT turn to stone during the day thanks to special talismans) and castle guards. During one battle, Aod was badly injured, so much so that her body was failing. The kingdom's sorcerer was unable to do anything to help, but he had one thought. A soul transfer. Aod's soul was strong enough. If a suitable new body was found, he could do it. The only bodies though...were those of a clutch of gargoyle eggs. There was one, an egg that belonged to Darach and Ciara, but the little one within was weak and they were afraid it wouldn't hatch. The sorcerer spoke with them and said about the soul transferal. They agreed and it was taken care of quickly. Two weeks later when the egg hatched, the hatchling was strong and full of life. The sorcerer gave Ciara a mixture to give to the little one, which would make her grow quickly and regain her memories. Ciara agreed to this and fed the little one. Within two weeks, Máiréad grew quickly and while she grew, her memories came back, but at first she was confused. Ciara, Darach, and the sorcerer told her the truth and she soon understood. By the time two weeks had passed, she was 6'5" tall and twenty years of age. She stopped growing and aging, now allowed to age as any Gargoyle would. She stayed in the kingdom a while longer, the war ending shortly after the hatchings had happened. She helped in the kingdom with collecting the dead and finding herself once more. She though longed to see her old friends and soon bade Darach and Ciara and the others farewell, but promised she'd write.
