The first short story from me for 2015. Not JNL related, though the next chapter is in the works.
This one I planned on writing for a few days, but just wrote it today. It's short yeah, and written with in a short amount of time, but I enjoyed working on it.
Anyway, this introduce my Ninetales, Firestorm and her adoptive daughter, Pix who is a vulpix. Hope you enjoy

The forest was always full of noise at this time of day. The sun shone down on the forest as it entered its midday phase of its journey across the sky. Pokémon of all shapes and sizes went on their normal lives, causing most of the noise in the forest. In some parts it was quiet, only the rustling of the leaves and occasional chirp from a bird Pokémon in the trees breaking the silence.
A bush rustled as a small Pokémon made its way out of the den it called home. Small and fox like, the Pokémon was covered in red fur. Some of the fur curled on the top of her head, while six curled tails came out from the bush. A grin spilt her face as she turned and looked back at the den, hopefully her mother was asleep and she can go off and play.
She turned around, about to run off when a long tail come out and wrapped itself around her. “Where were you going, Pix?” a voice said behind her. It was an older woman’s voice, but besides a mother like tone to it, there was a slight concern sound to it. “Ah, nothing mom. I was just going out to play” Pix said as the tail brought her back into the den.
An older fox Pokémon stood in the den. She was slender, with creamy fur and nine long tails. Her eyes red as they looked at the young Vulpix. Not out of anger, but more concern and a hint of fear and protectiveness. The Ninetales sighed as she pulled Pix closer. “You know you can’t go off by yourself. It’s not safe” she said. “But mom, I wanna make friends, I want to play with those my own age” the vulpix said looking back up.
Firestorm smiled a bit at her before pulling her in. The older fox Pokémon started to lick the vulpix clean as the tail kept her in place. “I’m clean, you don’t have to keep doing it” she said, grumbling in annoyance. “You will miss this, when you’re older” Firestorm said to her. “Yeah, not if you let me out of your sight” Pix said.
The Vulpix did complain about it often, but she loved her mother. And she knew Firestorm loved her back. “I just want you safe, I don’t know what I would do if I lost you” Firestorm said. The Ninetales wasn’t Pix’s biological mother, more her adoptive mother. Firestorm had been very protective of Pix, when she found the baby Vulpix alone. She had waited for Pix’s parents, but they never came. A quick sniff of the area, and Firestorm had found out that they may have been caught by a trainer. Rather than let the young vulpix stay alone at that young age, the Ninetales had adopted her.
“Ah, mom, you still there?” Pix asked, poking the older Ninetales on the nose. The ninetales shook out of her thoughts and smiled at Pix. “Yeah. Was just thinking” she said. Firestorm never told Pix that story and she would be sure to not tell it, unless Pix asked any questions when she was older. “So mom. Can I go play?” she asked. The Ninetales nodded and smiled a bit. “Sure, but I come with you. I don’t want anything to happen to you” she said. Pix gave a mock annoyed groan, but smiled. She loved her mother, even if she was annoying with being so closed to her. “Sure, let’s go then” Pix shouted happily before heading out of the den. The older Pokémon chuckled as she stood up and followed Pix out, keeping a close eye on her daughter. The one thing in the world that meant everything to her.
