These are several designs I did for Pulp Era style spacecraft and vehicles. The ones of the far right were concept ideas for the comic book Corus which was published by Mu Comics.
Smudge and Ed Garcia along with some assistance from Mile Oxley did the bulk of the interior art. The cover art rotated between artist with yours truly doing the cover for Issue 3.
One of the focus vehicles in the story was Dr. Yu's magnetic hovercraft! Its pulp, don't think to hard about it. Instead just sit back and enjoy the ride. I was asked to put my two cents in on the design process. Since it was suppose to a very 1930's action-adventure universe I took many of my design cues from Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers. In fact the third ship was heavily influenced by great illustrator Alex Raymond. I seem to remember they went with a variant of the top design.
The V2-like rocket on the left was initial study work for a cover of a failed Steampunk anthology magazine that blew up on the crash pad before the first issue got published! I recycled the design for a piece did called "Britiannia Gambit" Since it was a British themed piece I thought it would be fun to use the old British Overseas Air Carrier logo on the side of the rocket!
