Not much here, just a slice of life short story I had. And an arctic vixen character I had thought of.

Flowers don’t grow in the snow.
Those words were often quoted by the people living in the city of Tora, but no one really remembered who said the words first. The city was founded during the times where a mastermind was trying to rule the Earth, about 20 years ago that was. And while the world had returned to normal, the city continued to thrive and grow. But still no one knew who started the term.
The city itself was similar to many other cities, just covered nearly year round with snow. Reptiles for the most part avoided the city, while mammals lived in it. Though in recent years some heated, enclosed pathways have made it possible for reptiles to be able to live in the city. A lot of outdoor areas were at least covered. The main park was enclosed and had lights providing artificial sun light. Flowers and trees grew here, just like with the other parks in the city because of the saying.
Lynae sat in the library as she turned over the page in her book. She was lost in reading she didn’t notice the hare come up from behind her. “Still reading huh?” he asked, startling the Arctic Fox. Her light blue eyes coming up to meet the hare’s brown ones, as the hare smiled back. Lynae leaned back in her chair and stretched as she rubbed her eyes. Moving some of her light purple hair out of the way she smiled back at him. “Oh, hey Nathan. Yeah, guess I am” she said with a chuckle. She stood up as she arch her back and sighed as she moved her stiff body. She wore a black shirt with blue jean shorts, which stood out among the white fluffy fur, common to her species.
Nathan looked down at the book and sighed as he looked back at Lynae. “I know that sigh, and I know what you’re going to say” Lynae said as she turned to face him. “But it’s true, flowers don’t grow in the snow” the hare said. “Yeah, but maybe we haven’t tied all types of flowers” Lynae said. The hare sighed; it was a touchy subject around her. Lynae tried to strive for what has been said, couldn’t be done the flowers not growing in the snow being one of them.
“Come on, we are heading to the Hotspot” Nathan said as he started to head for the door to the library. Lynae smiled as she closed the book and followed. The Hotspot was a café/bar that was a popular part of the city. “Yeah, be good to hang with the gang after most of today in a library” she said as she walked after him. Nathan smiled as he glanced at her, the two being like a brother and sister to each other.
The walk took them, 15 minutes before they reached the Hotspot, as they sat done and ordered some hot drinks. “So, Lynae, why do you keep chasing after this goal of yours?” Nathan asked, looking at the Arctic Fox. “Because, there has been no real proof that flowers can’t grow in the snow” she said. “And yet, there is no proof that they can. The cold would kill the flowers” the hare pointed out. “Well either way, I want to try to proof that it can happen” Lynae said back to him.
Their drinks arrived as they sat and looked out at the snow. “Trees can grow in the snow, so why can’t flowers” Lynae said, gesturing towards some of the trees that grew on the street. “Cause some can. Lynae, please I just don’t want to see you depressed” he said, looking to her. She sighs and smiles at him. “Ok, but that doesn’t mean I can’t read on them” she said as she pulled out a book about plants from her bag, causing the hare to chuckle. “Suit yourself” he said.
They did often tease each other, this being one of them. Nathan just smiled at Lynae’s never giving up attitude. He turned and looked back at the snow; he remembered when they played in the snow as kids. Their families coming here when the city was built all those years ago. He was still amazed that the city could be built quietly in those five years when people came here. He turned back and faced the Arctic Fox who was smiling. “Ok, what’s that smile for?” he asked.
“Well, just found out what I share my name with” she said.
“Oh?” he asked looking curious at this.
“Yeah, my name is shared with a type of small blue flower” she said with a smile. “So, technically, flowers can grow in the snow” she said with a wider grin. The hare couldn’t help, but smile a little at this. ‘She does find a way’ he thought to himself.
Hope you all enjoy
