The answer wouldn't be to use two separate pieces of twined steel, but instead to use a single thick piece and mill away the shape until it looks like it was made from two twisted yet fused pieces. Optical illusion manages sometimes more in this case than the "obvious" engineering logic. ^_^
She's not one of Konda's, I don't think ...
