Here we have a relic from an ancient era in my universe. This armor suit was worn by EGCA soldiers during the Solar Wars, and remained standard-issue until some time after.

Essentially an armored environment suit, this outfit was worn by soldiers in all situations, save space combat. Designed to absorb both laser and kinetic impact weapons, due to the arsenal available at the time. It was later discarded due to the heaviness of the armor, which slowed the wearer down a bit. It also proved ineffective against the explosive kinetic impact rounds developed later in time.

I went for a far more "retro" look here. Dead Space 3's Legionary Suit proved to be a valuable reference.
