Trying to make character profiles for Avernum fan comic I've been planning for months. This is Marra, a cat person. Or as they call them in Avernum, a nephilim.

MakeHuman + GIMP + some cat photos + InkScape. Just something to move from scripting to actual drawing.

I ran into a "character meme" and found it surprisingly good to refine characters. This interview is given to an imaginary observer shortly before the first page:

1. What is your name?
Marra of the Tricolor clan.

2. Do you know why you were named that?
Haven't you heard the legend of Marra? Should I retell it then? Well, I was named after that Marra.

3. Single or taken?
Still single, because some people don't get hints. Or maybe don't find me good enough.

4. Have any abilities or powers?
Years ago our shaman tested me and found nothing of use. But I'm good with a bow, does that count?

5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
Who's that?

6. What's your eye color?
Green.

7. How about hair color?
White with black and orange. I think humans call that "calico".

8. Have you any family members?
Mom, dad, brother and two sisters... or did you ask about the extended family? Anyway, I don't know if any of them are still alive and can only hope to find them someday.

9. Oh? How about pets?
We used to have cats. But that life is over.

10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don't like.
Cold rain.

11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
I like... liked playing hide-and-seek. I like watching people work. Fletchers, carpenters and such. I like hiding in workshops and watching people work. I like fishing with a rod. I'm a game hunter too.

12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
Not intentionally. And we have long forgiven each other. In the previous life which is over and won't be back.

13. Ever- killed anyone before?
I shot my first hare when I was five. Or what are you talking about?

14. What kind of animal are you?
I am not an animal, I am Nephilim. Humans call us cats.

15. Name your worst habits.
None that I can think of. Though Rrak and Lerr keep saying I shouldn't unstring my bow so often. I still say Fangs don't know how to take care of bows.

16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
Rrak and Lerr. But they seem to despise me.

17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual?
I don't know what "bisexual" means, but I'm jolly and I've been called straight as an arrow plenty of times. Why are you smirking? Is this some joke I don't understand?

18. Do you go to school?
No. Our shaman taught us to read, write and count. And a bit of human language, it's real simple and a lot like ours. The best students became his apprentices, but I didn't make it.

19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
Of course! But I'm too young for that yet.

20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
Who's that?

21. What are you most afraid of?
Soldiers until recently. Even though I easily hid from them. Now I'm afraid of the unknown beyond the portal.

22. What do you usually wear?
Loincloth and sandals. I'm not some barefoot tramp, I dress properly.

23. What's one food that tempts you?
Right now I'd eat anything. We are out of food, there's no game and all humans are too well-armed and alert to try stealing.

24. Am I annoying you?
Nah, I'm bored anyway. We seem to have been waiting for days.

25. Well, it's still not over!
Go on.

26. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
Low. Savage nephilim, then a waif, now an exile.

27. How many friends do you have?
I try not to think of the ones from the previous life. I thought Lerr and Rakk were friends, but they have trouble overcoming inter-clan rivalry. We are just fellow travellers going in the same direction.

28. What are your thoughts on pie?
Any food would be great right now.

30. Favorite drink?
I won't trade my bow for a skin of water yet, but getting close. Something drips from stalactites, but that's not enough.

31. What's your favorite place?
My home village. But I can't go back.

32. Are you interested in anyone?
*sigh* They can't get a clue when it hits them in the face.

33. That was a stupid question.
Why? As good as any.

34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
I hate swimming! Fur takes forever to dry. But if I really need, I'd rather swim in a freshwater lake. Have you ever tried getting salt out of your fur? Thought so.

35. What's your type?
Tall and strong. *sigh*

36. Any fetishes?
Fetishes are something shamans use in their work, aren't they? I don't have any. What's so funny?

37. Seme or uke?
I'm an androgynous kitten four feet tall. Do I look like a seme to you?

38. Camping or indoors?
After a year of outdoor life any roof is welcome. Even jail. Even a cave. Although this cave is supposed to be so big, it may count as outdoors.
