In the thirty-year-plus run of the 'funny animal' publication "Rowrbrazzle", I had only created three works of full-page 'cover art' (two front covers, and one back cover). Well, now I've created a fourth work of 'cover art' for the latest issue of the APAzine (APA = Amateur Press Association). And even though the 'cover art' for said issue is in black-and-white, I thought I'd present the full color version of it.
Let me provide you with a 'backstory' of how I came up with this image for Issue #123:
The inspiration for my drawing of 'Rob Cat' waltzing with a vixen came from an old song performed by the Smothers Brothers, nearly fifty years ago. In "The Last Great Waltz" (from the album "Mom Always Liked You Best!", released in 1965), we are introduced to 'Jonathan W. Astor', who is a master of the dance, until he meets his match in the form of a young woman who can waltz just as good as he can. Her handicap? She has three legs!
Dick Smothers (as 'Astor'): "Hey, lady! Did anyone ever tell you you dance like you have two left feet?"
Tom Smothers (as the woman): "I've got two right feet!"
So, naturally, I'd decided to 'borrow' the last portion of the song, as the duo danced the waltz in their own respective timings: the bobcat with two legs going "One-two, One-two...", while the three-legged vixen goes "one-two-three, One-two-three..." - which is only appropriate for Issue #123 of "Rowrbrazzle"...
BTW, "Rowrbrazzle" is one of the few anthropomorphic 'zines that doesn't has its own website. It's basically an 'old school' hard copy publication - whose circulation is limited only to its members (which, presently, is down to fourteen contributors. (At one point, many years ago, the APAzine had up to sixty members, and a number of 'waiting listers'.)
We are looking for more contributors of 'funny animal' art and/or stories to "Rowrbrazzle" (which is published quarterly) . The material should be no stronger (in its content) than PG-13. (No porn whatsoever!) If you'd like to consider joining us, contact one of these three individuals via E-mail:
Official Editor: William Earl Haskell: forban[at]hal-pc.org
Emergency Officer Steven F. Scharff: unidyne[at]cox.net
Emergency Officer Edd Vick: edd[at]speakeasy.net
Applicants who wish to join should send samples of their work (as E-mail attachments to one of the above individuals): Artists should send more than a simple drawing; And writers should send a sample of their writing.
Personally, I want to keep this publication alive. I'd hate to think that my 'cover art' would end up being my last contribution for (what could be) the swansong of "Rowrbrazzle"!
BTW, if you'd like to see my other 'cover art' pieces from back issues of "Rowrbrazzle", here are the links to them:

Yeah, the APAzine is still hanging by a thread. My good friend Steven F. Scharff is the 'interim editor' until William Earl Haskell fully recovers from whatever ails him. Being a 'newbie' at editing a publication, Steven wasn't bad his first time around... even though he'd included a duplicate copy of one of the sheets from my four-page contribution to "Rowrbrazzle" #123 (expanding it to SIX PAGES)! Hey, "nobody's perfect"!
