It's been nearly half a year since the last time I'd posted an original "Front & Back" comic gag; and I couldn't have chosen a more topical subject - than one that occurred recently - as the basis for my latest offering in this proposed series...
On October 15, 2014, the second of three gubernatorial debates in the state of Florida, when a situation took place between the two major candidates before this event even began...
Democratic candidate Charlie Crist had a small electric fan placed under his podium - to keep him cool and prevent him from sweating, during the hour-long debate. This P.O.ed the Republican opponent,, incumbent Governor Rick Scott, who'd threatened not to be on the same stage as Crist. (Apparently, one of the rules of a debate involves the use [or lack of use] of any electronic implement [e.g. recording devices, an iPod, etc.) by either candidate. There was a five-minute delay before Scott finally appeared at his podium. His behavior reduced the debate time to under 55 minutes!
Needless to say, this occurrence made bigger news than the actual debate itself. (It was even dubbed 'Fangate'!) Eventually there were the obligatory jokes about it on most of the late night TV talk shows, and satirical programs (such as "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart).
Well, since I now live in Florida myself, and Election Day (November 4th) is rapidly approaching, I might as well put in my "two cents worth" about this whole electric fan mishagosh, by having my alternate feline 'fursona' wear a most apropos T-shirt!
